im getting a strong rich running engine smell inside my car, it burns my nose and my clothes stink, also drivers exhaust stinks of rich running

 

any ideas on why its getting into my car

Well we're knackered for about 4 weeks at the moment bud so you got lots of notice. Burning oil, if its getting in the cab, is more than likely dripping onto the outside of the exhaust rather than going though it so could be as simple as a leaking rocker cover etc...

...or oil blowback caused by shagged rings giving an over-pressurised crank case. You checked to see if your dip-stick has been pushed out of its tube?

Burning engine oil has a very distinct smell. Almost scary if you love your car I would suggest it could be transmission fluid? that has a more sharp smell and is very pungent.

 

Just a suggestion?

Alan. I have been giving this a lot of thought mate. I have dripped various chemicals on a hot exhaust with no definate results. Then it came to me.

 

When seated in the 300zx your head is a lot closer to your ar5e. :rofl:
