About £400 :D

LOL apart from a few quid is it worth it:slap:

i would guess the 1st one is 1080p & the 2nd one not.

go for this one bud ;) --> http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=50GS&CategorySelectedId=11229&NavigationKey=11229,21,416880000

I was over at Steves house last year and he had the Samsung HD 50" and the picture was awesome ,It does not have to be Samsung but I think the room will take a 50".

If you're getting a 50 go for a 1080p. The samsungs are hard to beat on spec and price. I've had a 50" LG for about 18 months which has been superb. Of the two you listed Mac the more expensive 1080p set would be my choice.

Ive got a 50inch plasma samsung ive had it just over a year and ive had nothing but problems with it and its still making a buzzing noise and samsung have been out to it 6 times i wish i had kept my 40inch lg lcd well thats my view on them

I bought a samsung 32", samsungs are great and look nice, now the 1080dp is the highest quality, but the thing to remember is that the signal being sent by sky or terrestrial tv are of a lower resolution, so you can get some odd colour blending due to lower quality signal.

When you view one of these tv's in the shop, the picture is amazing. I got it home and plummed it in with all new leads and although the pic quality was good it was not what i expected. I had to buy sky hd digibox and............WOW what a difference.

So the moral of this pointless story is this you only get out what you put in, like Mac having a nissan micra engine in his beast, it would be all show and no go.

Point made.....i think

I know Graham I was going to upgrade to sky HD too;)

I know Graham I was going to upgrade to sky HD too;)

Then it should be spot on,

The only thing i noticed which the engineers could not answer, when i use surround sound there is a delay when using sound from the tv as well, ie: using the tv as a centre speaker-ish, which worked fine on my last tele, but not on this, i tried scart, hdmi, coax and phono and could not sort it.

Although its not a major problem, would have been nice to have the sound from everywhere.

All the best with it Iain.

I have recently got the Panasonic Viera 42" HD (Model No. Panasonic TH-42PZ70B) and the picture quality is superb from both DVD and Freeview broadcasts - good range of inputs - I can even use it as a 42" monitor for the laptop. There is a 50" version available as well.:D

1080 P Is true HD not HD ready! Its all to do with the resolutions lines and pixels

With a 1080p you will have alot lot better picture.

But you only really benfit from true HD signals!

For example Playstation / Xboxes / HD DVD's etc boast HD quality which is right but you only really notice the difference when you have a 1080p screen compared to a lower resolution screen.

If you put both the 1080p and a HD ready screen side by side you would be amazed in the difference.

Alot of things are going HD now even TV (sky at mo)

A mate of mine owns his own business selling and installing screens and audio equipment.

And has recently been to a a show where all the big manufactures show off there new screens and believe it or not a few big companies Sony etc had 3D screens which they think will be the next thing to have

I was "given" a brand new Samsung 52" 1080p LCD because they could not repair my 2 year old Sagem 56 1/2" DLP.:tongue:Superb picture from Sky HD and HD player.Highley recommend that one.

My bloody head is spinning its worse that choosing turbos:wack::wack::wack:

I've just got the 50" version and after searching all over the UK I actually found it cheapest in Harrogate a mile from my house

Paid £1299 for it when it was over £2K in the local Panasonic dealer

http://www.digitalconnexions.com/

Mounted it on the wall and set all the cables into it and it looks gorgeous.

After a lot of research I got the TH-50PZ70B as I thought the picture was way better than any of the LCD's I saw, espcially on standard definition TV and Sky which is still what you'll be watching 90% of the time at the moment.

IMO unless you are going to spend over £2K (at discounted online prices) on an LCD the picture just isn't as smooth, even with 100Hz technology.

If you are going to wall mount it don't buy the bracket in the shop or you'll probably be ripped off big style!

I've seen them costing up to £350 in shops and got mine off eBay for £20!!

The difference in the 2 Samsung's is the resolution:

HD Ready means it's not Full HD 1080p which is the highest spec available.

If you fancy getting a BluRay player then that's 1080p output but you can watch it in the lower 1080i or 720i resolutions you just lose a bit of detail.

I personally didn't want to get anything less than the best but that's why I'm always broke

Give me a ring mate or come and have a watch of mine.
