Was gonna sell it, but got it remapped instead!!!!! :nana2:

Yep thats the same as what i've got. I did'nt have it mapped or anything, would it be best if i sent it to be mapped? The only reason i did'nt is because i thought that it was already modified

If it needs mapping then you have the wrong one ! ;)

Seriously though, unless the spec doesn't match what you have then it should be fine.

When i got my engine rebuilt, i had it remapped to run 555's and uprated turbos. Its going away to be remapped again soon!

Ah.....that explains it :wack:

Cheers Andy, i've had it fitted for ages and its been fine, i was just making sure i did'nt need to do something else :)

Shouldnt you have it mapped on a rolling road?

It was a basic run in map from a certain Mr John Dixon.

Going bk to get it set up properly when im down in englandshire for JAE!!!! :duffer::duffer:

You mean you have a Blitz ECU without a Blitz map ? - well that's not a Blitz then is it, it's a Nissan ECU with a JD map.

Says blitz on the cover! :p

then you do have one 0f the blitz maps then. if you open it up and see the eprom covered in sealant then you deffo have a blitz ECU:bow:

Blitz, (rare) Mines (see a few around) or Tomei (super rare) are all the muts nuts:bow:

Cool :D:D:D

As Andy says

All the ECUs are original Nissan "OEM" . Blitz,Mines, ect do not and did not ever manufacture these units. All as they do is re-programme them by installing another (E)PROM into the existing unit. Most "99.9%" of these maps are not meant to be used with low octane UK fuel. Jap fuel has a much more refined higher RON rating and the US, much lower.

If you remove this (E)PROM from the unit then it becomes a bare STOCK OEM Nissan ECU. if you then place a new chip with whichever program....guess what......you got it:p

So a Blitz, Mines, Tommi, Barbie, Ken ECU are STOCK Nissan ecu's with incorrectly mapped (E)PROMs.

There not worth any more than other ECUs

PS...Before you boys tell me that you have the above ECU and your Z does 200mph in first gear, mabee so but serious damage can occur to your engine if your fuelling is not correct especially when you turn up the boost.

I'll stick to the AndyP chip in my ecu thanks. Not going through all those problems again.

Darrell

Yes as Andy and Dave have said the only difference between a Blitz/Mines/etc ECU and a stock Nissan one is the map on the ROM chip and a fancy sticker on the box.

If you erase it and re-map it then you've made the ECU you paid lots for pretty worthless.

Personally if I had one I'd sell it for good money then get a standard ECU and re-map it.

I have mapped over 100 ECU's with various maps and the Blitz and Mines ones I tested didn't seem that good - they are set up for Japanese cars and fuel after all.

The best ones I've found and stuck with are JWT for a fairly safe and conservative upgrade or for maximum performance the old SE Nissan maps.

Andy - Do you map chips then ?

No, but I do chip ECUs - there is a difference.

^^^ Absolutely !

Mines, Blitz, Tomei - the only advantage to them over a standard ECU is that you dont need to resocket it when you remove the chip and throw it in the bin to replace with a John Dixon/AndyP or some other UK mapped chip.

So is it worth me getting a new chip put in? My car runs fine with the Blitz ECU, but i don't want to cause any long term damage or restrict performance etc....

The risk from Japanese mapped ECU's is detonation from running our lower octane UK fuel, but if your not getting any then all is well and I would'nt worry about it.

Although its only about £75 or so for a remapped chip here.

I don't think i have any problems with the Blitz ECU, however i do have a standard ECU that i could have chipped if there is a need.

When i get my car back it will be running a reliable 12 psi, bareing that in mind, is there any reason to change ECU so that is works better???
