:o Hi guys - I'm after a new battery and popped to Halfords at the weekend and was shocked to find that a new battery cost £92! :bow:Is this unreasonable or am I just out of touch with the cost of batteries? Any idea where I could get a cheaper one from? Cheers ;)

Trinster is a lady!!

Your local motor factor will be cheaper, much cheaper. Think I paid about £39 or £45 last time.

Hi Trinster,

I can't help with a lower priced battery but I wanted to make you aware that the batteries in the Zeds have the positive and negative terminals reversed when compared to a lot of batteries. Our battery cables are very tight and won't allow you to hook up a battery that either has the terminals on the wrong side or even on the other side of the battery. Have a look at your current battery - the negative terminal will be closest to the wing of the car and be nearer the fire wall. Most batteries will have the negative terminal closer to the car engine and away from the firewall

Just my 2p worth but I hope it's usefull.

Regards,

Where in North Yorkshire are you?

Halfords battery prices are ridiculous but it is a big battery in a Z so will be more than for your average car.

I know a couple of cheap places in the Harrogate area if you're anywhere near.

Good advice from Danny I'd forgotten about that and nearly had to buy a battery at the weekend.

I use the Harrogate branches of both of these and the prices are always good as they mainly deal with the trade.

The part number you need is 069 for UK spec

088 for jap spec, this number used to be 068 so if they offer you an 068 bear in mind it will be new old stock and use it as a lever on the price.

Jap and UK have same fitment.

Do not buy 069 it will not fit UK or Jap. Terminals in wrong place.

068/088 is correct fitment for both.

bosch £52 from andrew page.

Jap and UK have same fitment.

Im sure 069 fits uk cars remember putting one on chunks uk spec lwb, fitted straight on and terminals in the right place.

Mine has an 068 / 088 and fits perfectly to jap.
