Was this a genuine Nissan part? If so is it not possible to get a new one from Nissan or MJP???

it was a factory-fitted extra in Japan only. they're slightly illegal over here, depending on the colour IIRC. ive not had any trouble yet and i had a copper following behind me at night the other night. [touches wood]

Never mind the wood, were you touching cloth while he was behind you?

looks nice... are they normally solid red in daylight. I'm sure I've seen ones that are clear day red when lights on at night

nah theyre dull during the day. can barely make them out when theyre on, even with your hands cupped and face right up to it. look chuffin gorgeous in the dark though!

is it a red illuminated panel I understand that red could be a color choice for a male seeking male. ;) :D seriously if it's a red one If I had 100 spare pound coins I would offer them to you in exchange

Yeah the same with the 'Home-Made' red (or any other colour) ones. My OEM 'Green' one looks similar to a non-illuminated one during the day, but as Dave says looks gorgeous when switched on at night.

For anyone fitting one of these, wire them into the number plate circuit. This is for two reasons, one, If you're still using the 'Lights-Out' circuit, it could give you false readings, and two, the wires are closer!! :D HTH
