Now that I've got my new wheels on, I am considering lowering the suspension, particularly as the front is a little higher than the rear.

At the moment the clearance from the top of the tyre to the wheel arch is 4cm at the rear and 5cm at the front. I am thinking of lowering the rear by 2cm and the front by 3cm, so that both would have a clearance of 2cm. Will this give enough clearance for the suspension to work without the wheels rubbing the arches?

I CHICKENED OUT!

I'm a bit embarrassed to admit it, I had even drawn the cash out from my BS account to pay for it, then I thought hang on a minute what are you doing......

£100 to lower front 3cm and rear 2cm........£100 to realign geometry........£200 for adjustable arm thingis....+vat........total of nearly £500 for what? lowering the Zed about an inch. On top of that I might then find I hit every sleeping policeman I meet (and there's loads of 'em just in Swindon).

I came to my senses, phoned the garage and told them I've changed my mind. I'm now owning up to you guys.

So my Zed is still as my sig. It doesn't look too bad does it? Pretty please!

And? thats the whole idea....

you could knock off 100 quid and lower it yourself.

but its your car so your entitled to do what ya like whichever suits you.

Still looks stunning either way.

Why would you pay someone to lower your car for you when youve got coil overs and the C spanners?!?

Honestly, how often do you use the car?

If you dont use it every day, and its more of a weekend car, then the alignment can wait a little while, as can the adjustable upper arms.

Obviously, if its a daily driver, then your tyres will suffer, but if its not, theres nothing wrong with doing it in stages.

But honestly, it needs the drop IMHO

My mileage is very low, less than 2k last year. I agree it would be better dropped, but not for that price.

Whilst I have the C spanners I don't have the facilities or ability to do it myself. I'm getting too old for clambering under cars, it nearly killed me when I changed my radiator last year and had to get under to release the holding bracket etc.

Well ive got a bit of time off coming up soon, so im more than happy to come give you a hand if you like

It's great of you to offer. I get enormous value from my membership of this club from all the comments and advice that I receive from members like yourself. But I'm not just getting on in years, I'm also becoming a lazy sod and must stop myself from accepting offers of direct help such as you are offering.....Many thanks anyway.

Well the offer is there mate, as long as the kettle is hot, im happy to work on a zed :duffer:
