first of all if you have got most of the turd up leave the stains to dry out fully , use a hair drier to speed up the process once youve got most of it up or off you can use water , warm with a bit of lemon juice in it but dont soak the wood to get up any stuborn crap ...blot it up with kitchen towel and when its dry use some clean wire wool . not a brillo pad and gently get the wood grain clean work with the wood grain in that direction only , then when its plugged and sealed you wont even notice

DO NOT USE ANY LIQUID CLEANERS!! as if you use to much water and do not dry them propperly is with result in a black stain that will go right through the oak floor but this normally happens over a period of time , dry the best you can maybe with a hair dryer like has already been said then a light sand with a 80/100/120 will bring the floor good,

should always seal any wood floor and definatley a oak floor as they will stain very easy and you often dont see the stains until you have sealed the floor :)

oak will go black with too much water as above just making a dispaly for the chelsea flower show in american white oak you must try to avoid water . white spirit or pref paint thinner cellulose is probably a good start then fine sandpaper when its evaporated try it first in a concealed area first and sand as above with the grain

you often dont see the stains until you have sealed the floor :)

Nail on the head there bud

Oak and water stains are a nightmare

Work for building company as the poor barsteward who has to go to the completed houses after the purchaser has moved in and rectify things and although never get involved with water stains on floors but quite often on oak staircases the only way i have found to remove the stains once they have appeared is to get back to the Oak and use one of the bleachers that are available from a good decorating supplier then you have to make sure you remove all the bleacher remove all the varnish from the whole section and re-varnish or the section stands out like a sore thumb

Not sure how much use this on a floor as we always call back the guys who supplied and fitted it as then if they screw up it is down to them to replace

As the guys above have said avoid using water as much as you can and any small amount you use don't leave it lying and getting a chance to soak in

Poxy dog has spread it to about 7 small piles, gonna wring its bloody neck. Its outside looking at me through the door in the pooring rain......that'l teach it !!!!!!!

Best way to get it up is to use your tounge, as it will be moist enough to remove the poo but wont soak the wood.

Please post pics up of you cleaning it up if you use this method!

Thanks very much guys, just getting the solids off now :(
