Finally got the alarm sorted, new fuses etc.

just put the battery back on after nearly 8 month an started first time:eek:

all cylinders working at first then when warm up a bit went back to 5:rant:.

so have come to the conclusion that the wiring on 5 cylinder (driverside rear) expands when getting warm causing no spark.

all ready fitted new spark plugs, coilpack, coilpack connecter, series 2 ptu.

ran it for a few minutes before the cylinder dropped off an there was a bit off smoke coming up from the passenger side down around turbo area am assuming this is because zed has been stood for so long:confused:

all help greatly appreciated trying to get it back on the road for the summer:)

cheers

Dave

well your title wasn't particularly explanatory, so people probably had a look but didn't know the answer!!!

If it's only dropping a cylinder when warm, that's one sign of the S1 PTU failing, so if you were looking to upgrade anyway, do that first as it's number one suspect... Unlikely that wiring getting warm would drop a cylinder - if the wiring's that dodgy, you'd just have it randomly running on fivr rather than just when it gets warm.

If you say it starts missing when warm it could be the ptu..... they tend to fail and brake up inside due to excess heat....

Next time it does it try dabbing the ptu with a damp cloth to cool it down and see if there are any changes.

Says he's got a series 2 PTU in the first post ;)

Could still be a faulty one though, it does happen.

Smoke might be some oil has dripped on the turbo while it's been stood.

Could be a dodgy plug that's breaking down?

If not it must be the wiring or a knackered cylinder.

don't think its the cylinder just no spark to it :headvswal

sounds like you have a plug bereaking down under load ..swap number 5 and number 1 plugs over and see if the fault moves with the plug or stays in the same place ...

spark plugs are brand new bud

yes we know they are new but if you switch round the plugs then you can eliminate your problems..... trial and error :)

try swapping injector plugs aswell as you could have a faulty injector/wire/plug, and this could be giving u a bit of unburnt fuel smoke.
