hmm too far i think :( had a closer look at it and it's definately only held on by one bolt, if i loosen the other bolt i can swing the caliper on it, think i'll have to try get someone to drop over and drill it out or try doin it myself :wack:

you need to drill through the middle of the bolt... somehow, i dunno how your going to get to it from behind...

I cant remmember how it looks.....

can you drill from the front?

anyway you will need a good drill and drill pieces start small and work your way up.

start from 1mm

if i loosen the other bolt i can swing the caliper on it

Do you mean if you totally remove the "good" bolt you can swing the caliper on the broken bolt

If so, can you also totally remove the caliper and get mole grips on the remaining snapped bolt and remove it ?

it will swing on the good nut if loosened, none of the broken nut is sticking out, but i should be able to drill it from the front if i remove the disc, just gotta go out tomorrow and buy some decent drill bits and a replacement bolt, if i can find one

Dont go drilling the thread or youl need a new hub :D

And make sure you punch a tiny hole bang central for a good guide as to start with.

can you use easy outs after you have drilled a centre pilot hole.. or if not you can buy left handed drills from a good engineering supplies.

do you have a dremel? you could cut a slot and try use a big flat head, levered with a spanner... applying heat to it will help too. Or - plug weld a nut on if you have a mig handy?

just my (probably useless) 2p worth.

expanding on the drilling thing - could you not drill a pilot say 5mm and hammer a torx into that and remove it?

but if ya make a mistake welding and weld the fooker to the hub your well and truely screwed.

id prob give it a go :D

Gonna go to a good tool shop tomorrow morn and see what I can get, might actually be able to do the dremel and screw driver job, thanks for the suggestions

Well mate all of the above that I mentioned have worked for me when working on very rusty 17yr old jap crap. :D

Good luck - Always plaster with WD40 before attempting to budge bolt (if no heat available).

Would be well worth buying a blow torch from a plumbers merchant or B&Q etc. Just a cheap one will add heat.

Work on heating the bracket not the remainder of the bolt, this will encourage the bracket to expand away from the bolt.

Once you have drilled a descent size hole hammer a star shaped allen key socket in the hole so its nice and tight, attach your rachet to it and try undo it, if it rounds off hammer in the next size up etc.

But use the blow touch to make it easier.

how you get it out in the end?

Drilled right through from the front and then used a bolt extractor from the back, really quite easy once you have the right tools :)
