NZR - Registration Number Transfer from an old car with no MOT

Folks,

Does anyone know if I can get a number from an old car with no MOT onto a retention certificate or does the car need tax, test and insurance - thanks smile.gif

Senna m8, I have just done this - transfered a number from a write-off.

The DVLa will want to see the SORN for the doner car - thats it. They will ask for the MOT and TAX Disk serial number of the doner and the Tax disk expiry date and serial number + current MOT, + Reg docs of the recipient car. Took a week to get back a new Taxdisk and confirmation that I could use the new plates.

I understand that the DVLA nearest to the doner vehicle [where you have to send the forms] may want to inspect if the SORN is not yet registered so to speak.

Form V317 is the one you need.

Good luck!
