Started the Zed up today to drive as normal and on pulling away noticed some smoke pluming from the the right exhaust! It went away on changing into 2nd gear and was fine when warmed up...

I noticed my Z started doing this a few weeks ago but now it's becoming a concern... When the car was parked up today after driving it I left it for an hour and started it again... No smoke on idel but when bliping the throttle to about 300rpm there was a slight blue haze which came from the drivers side exhaust which quickly soon went away... On leaving it idle again there was nothing but white smoke / condensation and she was fine again...

My turbo's are only a few years old and are upgraded hybrids so guessing . hoping it not them! Would it by any chance be the PCV valves sticking??? The left passenger exhaust is fine and no smoke... Also but not all the time sometimes she will stall as if there is a vaccume leak somewhere... Very weird! Could this also be related to a PCV problem?? Many thanks for anyone who can help!

How long has it been stood for. You will get moisture build up in the exhaust system which will take some time to burn off, especially if the engine does not get fully up to normal working temperature which can only be achieved by driving it for some distance. If you can, I would take it out for a decent run and have a look then, if it still persists, you should certainly be concerned.

It's my daily drive so only stood over night! It's fine when everything is up to temperature and no smoke after a run, just this little problem on startup or going a short distance... Went out again early evening while it was still light and everything fine!

but faulty pcv valves can lead to a bit of smoke. blue which is burnt oil. you could be getting a bit of seapage from the valve stem seals when car is left over night then its burnt off when car is restarted in the morning.

and mositure/water would be a white coloured smoke his is a blue haze.

I had a similar problem. Did the PCV's and made no difference.

It has now gone away, this happened after I had the holes in the centre box of the exhaust repaired . My assumption is that moisture was getting nto the exhaust and was then turning to steam when it got hot.

My car does tend to stand all week however.

Good luck with getting it sorted.

Thanks Darrell

Like i said water and moisture would give a white coloured smoke, a blue haze is most definatly a small amount of oil being burnt from somewhere.

have you noticed if the engine is using much oil? that may be worth keeping an eye on

Yeah, had a look at this too thanks Nick but the dipstick is topped right up and not loosing anything! The car is due for an oil change soon though so maybe the oil in there is reached already it's usable life??
