on tickover blue smoke comes from the n/s bank but when i switch on the air con on it changes to the o/s bank. then switsh it off again and its back onto n/s, i can do this all day long

First test - leave the aircon on but switch it between econ and not econ (if that makes sense lol). See if it changes sides with that...

so its when the engine is under load that it swaps banks

 

Either that or when the FICD is operating ;) Hence the econ question :)

i have got a bit further and found that if you listen to no 6 cylinder and someone presses the aircon switch on it does something to the vaccuum line im wondering if that goes backto anything that could pick up oil ie a brether

Yeah the FICD (fast idle valve) is located above cylinder number 6 ;)

cheers andy ive found that the tickover is set at around 600rpm but if you switch on the air con it goes to 1000 rpm this is my mates zed and the aircon pump boesnt pull in

but on my zed tickover is around 800rpm and with aircon on it stays there my aircon works fine im thinking that the aircon has gone down and so that the engine doesnt race when aircon on they have alted the tickover or do you think the ficd is fooked
