what beats a zed with chip and boost at 14psi?

so Chris C is kindly fitting my chip and blits boost controller on sat, and i cant wait to be honest biggrin.gif. thing is as stock i find quite a few cars can give me jip, not faster though, but can keep up with me upto 100 mph or so. So the question is whats faster than a zed with chip and boost controller set to 14 psi?.....nothing..good just what i wanted to hear...no seriously anyone been burnt? just so i know who to look out for and who to be respectful to.

Don't know who's 300z you saw at Santa Pod but there are a few of us who go there that get reasonable 1/4mile times/speeds. (13.442s is not bad for a 2+2 Auto!)

Z first and anything else is secondary!

I've raced at North Weald and the Pod. Beaten supposedly quick souped up Supras, Cosworths (inc the two door 500). Never raced either a standard or modded Skyline on the strip, but did race them on the track and they do leave a Z for dead. Never raced a Scooby or Evo. M3's no problem!

Raced a Chimera, left it standing. I totalled my TVR 400SE and I am glad I was in that is it absorbed most of the impact. That even had side impact bars which the series 1 Z's don't have. My mate promises to bring his 4.2 Cerbera to North Weald on 1st September, I reckon I can beat him if it is slightly damp and he can't get traction, otherwise I think he'll leave me for dust.

Been beaten by; MK1 escort with a two litre Pinto, Race prepped beatle, but nothing else in the way of standard(ish) street cars.

BTW I am running at 14P.S.I.

Supras and Skylines?????

Similar Hp Z vs similar Hp Supra/Skyline

Z all the way.

---> i am going

--------> going

--------------------> gone

Z isn't much of a quarter mile car, it's too heavy and very difficult to launch quickly without wheelspin, but who cares about 1/4 mile times on the road? in real world conditions a Z running 14psi will outrun most things this side of a 911 turbo/TVR.

my kill list so far includes;

Scoobie 22b

Scoobie RB5

Evo 5&6

Supras all day long wink.gif

911 C2

M3

M5

Skyline R33 GTR

Boxster S (ha ha ha)

GTO

944 Turbo

Soarer T.T (modified)

Sierra and escort Cossie

Sunny GTi-R

GSX-R600.

Got absolutely massacred when I attempted to take on a Tuscan though..

Faster - The silver Supra who left me for dead near Ashford tonight.

Slower - The Ferrari Testarossa coming out of Dover. He tried, he failed !

Though I suppose even if a Ferrari 0-60'd in 10 I'd still swap it for my Zed smile.gif

A supra??

A GTR?? DREAMING!

I have a Z with chip and 14psi, and it blows a uk spec (I believe these are the fastest stock) completely out of the water! I mean not even close.

2 friends of mine have Supras, one is a 99 import t.t with tiptronic and the other is a 95 uk spec manual.

Racing the manual from a standing start, I was a car length ahead at the top of 1st, 2 cars at the top of 2nd, 6 cars at the top of 3rd, and 10 cars by the top of 4th.

G.T.R? give me a break!, can the people who claim how amazingly fast these cars are as standard please drive one first?

I have raced a stock (save for exhaust) R33 that belonged to a friend, while my Z was stock and the 300 repeatedly beat it from 60 up usually by a good 5 car lengths by 100mph, (the skyline has a limiter) and judging by the way the 300 was pulling away from it at 112mph, it was going to get uglier for the skyline.

I don't race him now with the boost upgrade as I deem it to be a waste of petrol wink.gif

A stock R33 only has a single turbo 250bhp engine...so of course you'd beat him.I'm talking about GTRs with 350bhp(officially 280) stock, and much more when modded!

I bet most of the cars you claim to have beaten, didn't even know they were meant to be racing you! biggrin.gif If they ever existed at all biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

You said it mate, all you have to do is fill it up with Optimax and install a magic tree air freshner to the rear view mirror and you've got 1000bhp!!!

Hehe I have 1 bar and 3 magic trees in my GT-R so I could beat three zeds welded together LMAO wink.gif~~~~~

And I can go around roundabouts in the wet very very fast.

Whether as bad as a plastic rocket I'm not sure, but the Zed got APPAULING NCAP crash test results, something like 3 starts for driver safety none for passenger.

Where did you hear that Jez mate?

Euro NCAP was established in 1997 and the Z32 was removed from the UK market in 1994.

Japanese NCAP(OSA) have no current listing as the Z32 went out of production in 1999-2000.

Just a road test I read earlier.

Standard Performance

0 - 60 mph [secs] 4.7

0 - 100 mph [secs] NA

1/4 mile [secs at mph] 13.0

The R32 GT-R was developed for racing, and it feels like that in every move. The RB26DETT is one of the finest engines ever to work in a road car and catapults the Skyline from standstill to 60mph in 4.7 seconds. The steering is precise and offers good feel. Overall, the R32's responses feel quicker than on later models, which

may partly be attributed to the fact that this car is at least 50kg lighter than its successors.

The R32 GT-R might not offer the latest safety features of newer cars, like airbags etc. (it has ABS), but your money buys you one of the most unique driving experiences ever in this world. After all, of the latest Skyline GT-Rs this is the real legend - and you get the racing pedigree for free.

In response to Banzai (whom I suspect has never driven anything more powerful than an XR3) the Skyline in question was an R33 G.T.R as in 2.6 twin turbo, 4wheel drive and hicas. Most of the cars on that list I have either owned or they belong to friends of mine.

I am not discrediting the skyline it's a great car (so great in fact, that I just bought one), it's just that stock for stock, a 300 is a quicker car, (makes sense really when you consider how much power must be lost through that drivetrain, and the fact that it is as lardy (in R33 form) as the Z, and definately does not put out 350bhp stock (again in R33 form, R34 stock output is a lot higher).

My car is faster than yours ner ner ner ner wink.gif~~~~~

No really it is.....

so it appears that a zed running 1bar boost and chipped should provide plenty of fun biggrin.gif and there are not many cars that will give it grief.

on the subject of skylines, how far can you boost them? or are they already at their full potential?

Well get your car over from the backwoods, to Silverstone for TRAX, then we'll see how fast you are up against the Supras and Skylines, on the track! biggrin.gif

End of STORY!...one way or another! biggrin.gif
