In previous posts I had no reading from the left 02 sensor and also when I ran a power balance test on Cozult the results were always diferent, usually at least 2 cylinders failed but it was diferent ones each time?

So now I have fitted another 02 sensor and a new loom but nothing has changed!

O2 still reads 0

Power balance test - diferent ones fail each time.

I am out of answers, can someone help. At this rate I will be going to the Welsh meet as REO in an Audi!!!

Have you checked the o2 sensor connector to see if the heater wire is supplying 12volts (red wire if I remember correctly)? and I think the black is earth off the top of my head?

Yes it is supplying voltage from the red wire.

If the results vary from cylinder to cylinder that is not a problem, if one consistently comes up then you have a problem!

Still no joy,

I have fitted a new loom as well as a diferent ECU and 02 sensor and still the same thing, starts at 0.30v and drops away to 0 !!!:headvswal:headvswal:headvswal

Well maybe its actually telling the truth then ;)

WTF have you been smoking today duffer?

Nothing yet lol. My point is that the O2 sensor is giving 0 volts but starts at 0.3 - IF it can produce 0.3v then it is working. If the voltage then drops to 0v then the O2 sensor could well be giving a true reading - ie that bank is running lean ;)

If that is the case what can be do to stop running lean before it kills the engine?

Difficult to say without knowing WHY its running lean

 I thought if the sensor detected it running lean on that side then it increased the fueling?

In your font of knowledge what would cause it to run lean on the one side?

It can only increase the fueling so much... What injectors do you have? Have you checked the injector connections are clean? Ever had the plenum off?

They are standard injectors and I cleaned the connections when I fitted the new loom. I haven't had the manifold off since I dropped the engine in.

The engine that came out had a melted piston and two damaged valves on the same side, I haven't used any engine parts from the old one but could it be connected.

If it reads normal then drops down could there be a blockage in the rail or something?

Did you use the same fuel rail?

Just had a trial with the sensors.

When I connect the left 02 sensor to the RHD wiring loom plug then the conzult reading for the RHS drop to 0

When I connect the right 02 sensor to the LHD wiring loom plug then the reading for the LHS ik stays around 0.16 on idle.

So the loom is ok

The ECU is ok

The LHS bank of cylinders must be running lean

Any ideas what can cause this? Something to do with the air intake system or the turbo or a valve of some kind?

Anyone help before I go mad :confused:

Boost leak

Have you tried swapping ecu?

Cambelt jumped a notch?

One injector going up the duff

Loom breaking down?

If you have the old injectors from the old engine swap them round with the complete fuel rail, clean all the green crap on the injector connectors.

its obviously not ecu or any of the wires youve changed.

Topless if the belt was out one notch wouldnt it be lean on all cylinders?

same with boost leak? or not?

All the wiring is new, connectors all cleaned when the loom fitted and have tried 2 ECU's

Injector were fitted to the engine already, have not used the old ones. Just wondered if a air leak some where would cause it.

Also is there an earth for the 3 injectors that side? Going to stick some injector cleaner in the tank to.

yeah i think there is only one earth on the fuel rail.

a leak on the balance bar maybe i dunno im not a pro.

but defo do a boost leak.

What are you talking about?

Hope I am not telling you how to suck eggs anthony, but the throttle body on the opposing bank feeds the bank malfunctioning, for your boost leak!

What are you talking about?

if the belt was out a notch wouldnt it either retard or advance the timing on all cyclinders?
