Hello All,

Story of my life.....I went last night to pick up my new 91 n/a manwel and half way home (of a 30 mins drive) i lost all power and died on the motorway. Managed to get it off and found that the fan belt had come off, with no tools i called my breakdown cover and they come out.....jacked the car up put the belt back on and adjusted everything. started her up and the waterpump (breakdown guy said it was the pump) caused it to have a flapping type sound and said thats why the belt come off and i lost power and that whoever fitted the belts (as all have not long been done) knew the pump was gone and didnt do the belt up that tight.......

Question is that i have emailed Zcentre to see if they have one in stock and if i can pick it up but does anyone have a guide or idea how hard it is to fit a new one, i'm going to get a family member who is good with cars to help but a guide would be great to go from if its hard to do...

Thanks

J

Man that sucks! I had a Hole about the size of my little finger in mine but still carried on Pumping! When i was at Zcenter last they had like a dozen Cambelt kits so im sure they are bound to have a Waterpump!

I watched him do it didnt seem too difficult! As you can see it all makes it easier! He did the whole job with the Front bumper on so :)

Good Luck

I had my water pump completly sieze on me, snapped all my belts but spared the cam belt, got a new water pump from local car accesories shop for 65 quid but halfords wil do one for bout 100

So has the water pump gone i.e bearings gone or seal, or was it the fact that the belt was just too slack?

I have never had to remove a bumper to do a waterpump or cam belt on any 300zx? Never heard of having to remove a front bumper before?

Once the radiator is out you have tons of room :)

I'm in the process of changing mines cambelt & water pump etc.

Its my first time doing it, I have got the rad out and just loosening the aux belts before getting to the cam belt & water pump.

I am using the guide on http://www.ttzd.com and you do not need to take the front bumper off.

Its the bearings that have gone, looks like they didnt put the belt back on correct so when i took it out of slow speeds and picked up on the motorway it slipped off...

Ok. At least you can do that without disturbing the Timing belt:)
