nope, not me, i dont see the big hype tbh, they are not guaranteed to run any better, they could still be clocked and cost many thousands more!!

and in reality they look the same!!

The cost is irrelevant, to a degree, n i disagree on the looks, 99 spec looks modern in comparison, i just dont see the point of modding a car to look like a later car so im going to sit patient till they start coming over, im sure their will be some slight variations

Different bumper, different lights (optional on front), different spoiler.... Not exactly what I would call worth the extra premium for a car thats had most of its mod cons removed from the interior in order to keep the costs down

Does that mean your coming back on here boboyan :dance:

It does look the same though John, i must differ with you lol!!

It IS the same car with a few tweaks and for the extra money it will command, i still do not see the hype lol

To Joe Public its the same, if you are a hardcore enthusiast i can appreciate it, if money is of little matter!

It's newer, has nicer features to it. Less chance of high mileage ones, less chance of it being hanging or rusty. Overall, they do look nicer. What would you rather have, a 16 year old car or an 9 year old car? Most of the early Zs are haggard now.

Sorry Si but that is rubbish. What nicer features? Drastically reduced climate control? No VVT? Just because its newer does NOT make it better. All IMO of course ;)

If i wanted a 99-spec i would just buy a normal one for buttons and change the bumper, lights, spoiler and hey ho - a 99-spec for peanuts :D

Don't get me wrong i like the look of the 99-spec, but i certainly would'nt pay roughly three times the price of an earlier one. ;)

if im honest Si, i would rather have my reliable rust free 18 year old car than an unknown, potentially problematic 10 year old car.

Lets not forget they are 10 years old with little or no history. Just because something is newer does not make it better!! it all goes on how it was maintained previously!!

I might buy a 99 spec and put a load of '89 spec bits on it

that would be a false economy Andy!! lol

You're always moaning about your car? Ratio-wise, the chances of having a newer car with more problems than an older car is low. You car before you had it could have been potentially problematic. It's what happens with older high performance sports cars.

Of course there are other factors in it. But generally, newer cars have less chance of having Neil Armstrong mileages and being rusty. 98 onwards had much better gearboxes, reworked stiffer chassis and many other bits. You need to see the bigger picture. Plus the exclusivity of owning an S-reg Z32!

And only a true Z32 enthusiast will know exactly why you paid £10k more for it ;)

Tell that to all the other Z enthusiasts who've ploughed tens of thousands in their Z32! ;) It's an enthusiast car.

no my problems have been through my own carelessness, ie damaged body work.

Ive had her 3 years and replaced a clutch.

As i say as a purist Z enthusiast i can appreciate the desirability.

However like for like and not as a purist, i really can not see the value for money ratio.

Poll added peeps :)

.....and ended up with a reliable, KNOWN and in most cases much higher power car ;)

Well, I wouldn't sell my Z for one, but if I was in the market for one, I'd be looking at trying to get one over here.

Si, the money and hardwork you have put into your car, has brought you far more pleasure I suspect, than a 99 spec, you would not be able to touch due to depriciation from modifications.

Im not sure what reg yours is on, but like many on here it proves, you can get more enjoyment and personalisation from an old girl, many a good tune has been played on an old fiddle!

Gotta say I'm quite surprised by the poll results  Unless its just that folk don't understand the options :D
