As above, the wheels have only been on the car for about 9 months, never seen salt etc, never kerbed etc etc etc.

But, the chrome is coming off, its just peeling away!

I have emailed Stern but so far they are ignoring me, which is just what I expected tbh.

Anyway, two things, first its a warning to anyone who may be thinking of buying these wheels, DONT.

Second, anyone have any experience of getting chrome wheels re finished? Any names? I dont want chrome again, just paint and polished rims.

Cheers.

Same is happening to my chromw wheels mate, from what I can gather refinishing them will be a b*stard of a job as it would be difficult to remove the chrome plate first. I'm just living with mine :'(

two words, TRADING STANDARDS, mention that to them and they'll s**t themselves, tell them you want the wheels refurbing at thier cost (in the same finish) or you want your money back, even if you dont want them in chrome tell them you do want chrome cos it will cost them more to get them replated than to give you your money back.

Stern are'nt what they used to be unfortunatly. Years back they made expensive quality performance wheels. These days its just Bling stuff, sounds like they only have a single coat of laquer which is what a lot of the cheaper wheels that people are fitting now from the likes of ebay have on them.

Big problem, they came form the USA.

And the chrome is just peeling off, so its how well it has stuck, (or not) to the alloy that seems to be the problem.

My son bought them for me before the design was available over here, thought it was a good idea at the time.

Anyone have any ideas on re finishing them??

take them to a uk supplier, they should sort them for ya, like i said, TRADING STANDARDS it dont matter where they came from, they still should'nt do it

Agreed, as they were bought from the USA they would have no juristiction, but thanks anyway.

I just hope I can get them re-finished somehwhere. or I just spray them matt black, lol.

try a company in manchester the http://www.thewheelspecialist.co.uk they did mine and they are fantastic, in black chrome they did a full strip down and low bake triple coat finish with re balance with tyres back on 270 quid a lot cheaper than new wheels .....very nice guys to do business with
