my engine seems to hit a wall like its hit the limiter at 6,000 rpm which makes no sense. any idea what would be causing this?

Could be the PTU breaking down when you put high demand on it.

would there be other symptoms if its the PTU?

check with a conzult if the ECU gets a speed signal.

if the speed wire to the ECU has been cut (eg. in an attempt to override the speed limit) you'll have a much lower rev limit and other problems, because the ecu thinks the car is standing still

^^ V.Good point.

Could you have a break in the Speed wire at the ECU after fitting that Apexi multichecker ?

Multichecker hasnt been installed yet. The car did have a conzult diagnostics when it was in being fixed, i think i need another one.

I was also thinking along the lines of MAF problem? I have a HKS Air Filter as its the only one that fits behind my bumper. this is the sponge one and I have driven my car in the rain on Saturday. Im thinking that as I remember on Last week my car had the same problem but on the 4th sprint down the dual carridgeway it went away and the revs went upto redline. Its seem that if i drive the car around like an old lady for a while then goto for a full throttle dash, the problem happens.
