Im in need of some help even though i should'nt be out side and i should be still resting but thats not me well before i went to hospital i had the prob that i couldnt turn the car off well its sorted it self out but now i keep blowin the fuel pump fuse so i unpluged the pump and it stoped blowing the fuses so i put it down to the pump now ive changed the pump and its still doing it so id though about the ecu's so ive change the fuel pump ecu and i was going to change the main ecu and found an apexi AFC air flow converter wot does this do as im not 100% sure could this have some thing to do with the problem since ive changed the main ecu the car wont start and fuel pump relay wont do anything now i gettin pieeed now so can anyone help me please!!!

Found this on the interweb.

The Air Flow Converter takes the pulse (frequency) from the Mass Air Flow meter and either speeds it up or slows it down at different RPM points to make the ECU run the injectors either richer or leaner. All by itself, it can only give you a little more bottom end power by leaning out the mix some. If you try to richen the top end you will just hit fuel cut (100% fuel inj. pulse) sooner.

One use is to cut out the restrictions in the lower half of the MAS (leaner) and then use the AFC to richen things back up. This gives some benefits similar to the VPC without the strange idle problems. If you have a 90-94 Eclipse, an excellent use is to convert to the MAS from a 95-99 Eclipse. The wiring connector is different but can be swapped to the 95-99 plug. The wires are the same. The calibration of the 2G MAS is different but the AFC will allow you to compensate for it.

The best use for the AFC is to install larger injectors (runs richer) and then adjust the AFC leaner to compensate. This also raises the point where you hit fuel cut since the ECU sees less air flow (lower frequency Hz).

Installation is simple, and only requires tapping into 5 wires and cutting one to intercept the air flow signal. This is all done at the ECU. There are 8 RPM adjusting points to adjust the air flow + /- 50%. These points are user defined within a 1,000 RPM band so that you can get finer control in certain areas if you need it. The rpm points come pre set at every thousand rpm from 1,000 to 8,000. The graph is highlighted for the rpm range you are setting.

The Super AFC also allows for two different maps according to load. It makes the load calculation based on the Throttle Position Sensor. You choose what is high and what is low. We normally set it for 30% low and 80% high.

Sounds more like it alters the signals going to the ECU than anything to do with the fuel pump. Sounds like you could have a bad connection or doggy relay. The ECU you swapped in, was it the same as the one you pulled out?

yer got it from slick pete cheers for finding that info out

last plee for help before i give on zed's for good as i still cant find out wots going wrong PLEASE

not some much the afc just why it keeps blowin the fuel pump/egi/ing coil fuse im runnin out of steam and im surposed to be resting cheers for the free bump

Just a thought, but if you have done everything you can to check out and replace the fuel system, checked for chaffing or damage to the loom which could cause shorting, checked the state of the connectors for posible shorts, then the only other items that that fuse protects apart from the ECU is the CAS or AFM directly. If either of these two or the wiring that feeds them is buggered then they could be popping your fuse too.

i gave the fuel pump a direct feed from the fuel pump relay bypassing the pump ecu and wiring ive found that there is an orange wire that links the egi relay and coil relay which goes to the main ecu i have cut the wire and found its stayin live keeping the ing on if you pull the wire off the ing goes off and then if you take the keys out of the ing and then put that orange wire to an earth even though its live put it to the earth and the ggi relay and the coil relay click and the ing lights cone on ive been going though the wiring diagrams and still having probs workin it out im at my wits end now as i can only stay out side for a bit at a time as its too cold for my injured foot and thumb ps also disconnected the ptu whilst testing and it still does it

Yes I know the wire you are talking about, it goes to pin 16 on the ECU. Effectively this will always be a live wire irespective of key position, it starts from the coils of the ECU and Ignition relays and is grounded by the ECU to turn the relays on, which sounds exactly what is happening when you ground it. Honestly I don't think your problem is there.

Don't loose the faith bud, it can be fixed!

Please bear with me a bit, having gone back over this and a couple of your other threads on the associated problems with this car, can you let me know if you are still popping fuses when you turn the key or are you still having a problem with the ECU not doing anything at all now?

There is a wire that goes from the ecu to the fuel pump that has a habit of fracturing in or around where it runs down the sill, your best bet is maybe to bypass it completely, susbstituting it with another wire?

so far the car is still poping the fuses the fuel pump relay is now not workin but ive test the plug for the relay and im gettin 2 constent lives and one earth and the other one which is orange is the one that goes to the fuel pump ecu topless which side it the wire that your on about aslo had a thought wot about the starter realy that is in the inner wing ive not had chance to look at it as ive only got one hand and one foot in use any thoughts about that i would be happy to pay some one to have a look as im not 100% in action due to my recent mishap

The wire is in the passenger side sill, try putting some punctuation in as the paragraph makes hard reading :)
