I grew up in Preston and now live on Anglesey, N. Wales. I was driving home tonight with my workmate and saw an old Landrover. I was just about to say "that's like the one my uncle used to own," when I realised it WAS my Uncle. He was 130 miles from home and still driving the Landrover which I remember him driving in the 70's. Needless to say I was stunned because I haven't seen him since I was a nipper and he was still driving the same Landrover which he bought 40 years ago!

Was driving over to the other half's Mum a while back and talking about old cars we'd had etc. Drive up her Mum's road and there is one of my old cars (Astra GSi) parked on a driveway. Bit more rust than it used to have, but still living on. I'd part-ex'd it about 10 years previously for a Renault 19 16v at a garage probably 40 miles away.

i'm a postman and when out on delivery i turned up a driveway and saw my old calibra i sold 5 years previuosly 100 miles away staring striaght at me! from the age of 10 i always told my dad i was going to get one before i was 20 and i got one at 18!!! loved it! sold it a year later after it failed its mot.

gutted when i saw it. moss growing up the windows and headlights and the bonnet had been cleaned with a brillo pad!

i had a best mate at shool for years, one day he came to school and said his grandad had died, strange as my grandad had just died, went to the funeral and there was my best mate, turns out he was my distant cousin, weird eh

Now that sounds uncomfortably close to a recent episode of Shameless, you sure you weren't doing a bit of uphill gardening at the same time ? :D lol

No, that only happens on Anglesey :D . Some good stories in the follow-ups.

In the late 80's and early 90's i was in the Merchant Navy (i was only 19 at the time) my best mate then was Craig from Walker (Newcastle) on one trip we ended up in Oban (Craig was at college at the time) myself and the rest of the crew enjoyed a night drinking/singing in the Oban Inn, i got into a fight with a huge heavy metal dude, anyway i kicked his ass and he fecked off.

In 2004 myself and my wife went to Oban for our 10th wedding anniversary due to the fact i have fond memory's of the place, we were in the Oban Inn and i was telling her of the great time i had there, we then went to Auly's bar and while i was at the bar i saw the same guy i had the fight with, i pointed at him and shouted i know you!! I went over and shook his hand and he said he remembered me, when we got talking it turned out my best mate Craig who i had lost contact with had married his sister and was living in Oban.

He phoned his sister and it turned out my mate was first officer on the Oban ferry, he came down to the pub, we hugged, cried, laughed, we have even been on holiday since.

Great memory's and still a great friend.
