going back when I was SW REO i found i very difficult to accomodate the guys doen in Devon and Cornwall as it would be a fair distance for them to travel if a meeting was arranged in gloucester or bristol. Now we have the REO in devon its seems the other way around, allthough Lisa is doing a great job i feel the region is too large for one REO.

What do others think?

Ok everyone, thanks for the nice comments on the job I am doing and for the comments from everyone. I do understand its not easy to please everyone, but I have tried to be fair. I have given the next 2 months to Castle Combe as our meeting area and as its near to Gloucester thought this was fair for you guys up there  As I have said b4, I WILL do some meets up there and had full intension of doing that for the last meet but then these track days for the next 2 months came up and used that as a solution instead. Bearing in mind c/c is 140 mile from me and much further for the cornish I didnt think I needed to arrange a local meet because of this.

I think it is best that if some members are not happy with the meeting points carry on and arrange your local meets til I think its time to arrange one in your area. Thats the best I can say really. But I will try and arrange sometime up there in the near future after these next 2 meets. Use these next 2 meets to try and have a great turn out and meet others from other regions :D

Also, I am open to any suggestions you all throw at me ;)

I don't envy you for the job you have to do. Geographically, it's a large area and everyone in it is pretty well spread out. I remember in my old car club, the same situation occurred. They ended up creating a Western Region which pretty much went from Bristol (and surrounding area) up to Worcester. Worked quite well.

I dont think it is a viable option tbh, what about Scotland/Ireland/Wales etc. there in the same boat.

With Wales and Scotland, it's slightly different. Catchment area in Wales tends to be the South Coast of Wales, IE, most people live within about 30 miles of either Cardiff or Newport. Similar is for Scotland, Edinburgh and Glasgow are only about 30 miles apart. Ireland is a hard one though.

I cant see how splitting up the areas a bit more isnt viable, it not as if it cost the club or the members any money to do so. Its been done once and it worked. How many from North Wales attend the Welsh Meet? thats one heck of a journey.

Its not just since Lisa has been doing REO ive thought the SW should have been split, I have always thought it should have been split.

Just arrange your own mini meets as Lisaf has said and she will arrange the main meets up that way as and when, so its sorted really init

One possible solution to this age old SW region problem,

Is to have two REO, Lisa in command (doing a great job)

and a deputy (to help take some pressure of Lisa) from one extreme edge of the region,

either Penzance or Gloucester.

This is just my suggestion for a possible solution, im not volunteering :x:

Thats what i ment by having a holiday or a stay over somewhere, and have 1 massive meet , (ALI G mode on>>> i is bee feelin da luv in dis room, let us be 1 MASSIVE - MASSIVE - reeeeespec :D ( mode off)

There are about 6/7 zeds in and around camborne/redruth area and we cant even get together on a regular basis; so I think the sw area is OK as is so you can have different people from all the locations going to the meets as they wish.

You will never get a location and or date to suite everyone! as for travelling to a meet. thats half the fun! CONVOY!!!

but we cant even arrange that and there is supposed to be about 4 going this Sunday from down here. see what I mean.

yes we are, its only in the last few months that we over here have a region on 300zx.co.uk with so few of us and even trying to include non registered or non subscribed on here, the best we can hope for is about 4 meets per year at the moment anyway, no matter which direction we go we are probably loking at a 300+ mile round trip. quality not quanity maybe sometimes, good luck lisa and all in the region
