The time is fast approaching where i am going to be breaking my Blue TT for spares to make way for my new project. I have never completely dismantled a whole car before and have limited tools at present.

My question is, what are the main tools i.e socket sizes, spanners etc etc, that are needed to completely dismantle my Z? I searched an old link and am looking at perhaps buying a Halfords Pro 150 piece socket set. Is this overkill? Would i be better buying specific sockets rather than wasting money on a big set?

Also, i will need to remove the engine and Autobox from my new Z so that i can use the Blue Z parts for a manual conversion. I take it that i would be able to hire an engine crane as opposed to buying one?

you can hire an engine crane, even better if you could borrow 1. and if you buy the socket set you've always got it there for when you need it next time, cos you WILL need it

Just a quick one, try machine mart, i would imagine it will be cheaper than Halfrauds :)

Glasgow eh?

Just leave the car out in the street and it'll be dismantled for you while you make a cuppa :D :mac1: :smw: :x:

i bought the halfrauds socket set for 99 quid. its a great set for a sunday mechanic like me :)

Just removed my diff and prop with no problems.

Ive also got a torque rench tho and a big bar for them big buggers:)

I'm hopefully going to be putting the engine in my car soon weather permitting as i don't have a garage, you can borrow my engine lift (2 tonne)if i'm not using it. I'm just off the M8 at Newhouse (Newarthill).

No problem bud, just drop me a PM when your needing it. It folds down so you should get it in a hatchback or estate car.
