Out of interest?

i started up and moved mine without it. feels weird though. I am sure there could be legal implications if you were to drive on public roads.

Thanks I have other means of displaying speed etc, so that legal side is not a problem :)

lol. check indicators and brake lights tho mate ;) but I think you'll be ok

car will run fine except steering will be heavier at low speeds as the speed signal to the ecu is messed up

I think the speed signal is sent to the clocks first, 'cleaned up' a bit and a further signal is sent on to the ECU. There could also be legal implications on the lack of odometer...

yes... the speedo is a little mini computer in itself which talks to the ecu. there are several factors that will be affected if you remove the speedo. as said the power steering will constantly be in high speed mode so it will be heavy, your hicas will no longer operate... there are several more functions that require the speedo signal... check out the wiring diagrams :)
