Was on the M25 on my way back home at 4am and fancied a bit of a thrash. So I went for it and pushed it in 3rd gear at 80mph and just touched the redline to 4th. Didn't go into the red, but pushed it hard.

When I slowed down, engine warning light came on, so I decided to limp home. A bit of smoke from the rear and noticed it was juddering, like it was misfiring somewhere, sounding like a V12. Got home and stopped and saw smoke coming from the back of the engine. Smelt like oil. Temp guage was fine and warning light disappeared.

Any ideas or suggestions what happened? Have I blown something?

Update: Checked it this morning and started rough. Juddering etc. After a tour round the block and warm up I checked and removed all the coil connectors whilst idling. Seems fine now. Smooth revs. Just had a loose coil connecion. Now running on all 6. No more smoke too.

But I'm still a bit worried about what happened last night. Smoke and warning light etc.

Anyone?????

No idea, was too dark to see and only happened when I was waiting at the lights and pulled away. I checked the oil and didn't find any mayo. So I don't think it's a gasket. Could be turbo seal, but smelt like oil.

Only rained a bit last night, not enough to dampen the MAF.

The forum is dead today no one is here... HHHEEELLLOOOO out there haha.

Check all the connections injector/coil/sensors. then go fromn there.

mine started missfiring the other day but hat was coz i sprayed loads of cleaner on the connectors and they needed to dry off was fine afterwards apart from my low compression haha.

Which engine warning light was it? There are sensors in the CAT to detect for unburnt fuel igniting in the CAT. If you had a loose coil pack it could be you had unburnt fuel in the CATs. As for smoke couldn't say mate. Like Jimmy says you need to see what colour it was. If I was you I would just keep a close eye on things for a while gradually push the car up to see if you can recreate your problems. Hopefully it was just a bad connection to the coil pack.

thinkg Cat light too. As unburnt fuel for loose coil pack will be pushed into the exhaust system and ignite in the cat's making then over heat and putting the light on, on your dash. did it look like an oblongish shape with 3 wavy lines heading upwards?
