Oil in intercooler pipe and blue smoke out exhaust on throttle release.

Getting dreaded blue smoke and there is oil in my passenger side intercooler pipe, not just a little bit but alot in there.

Now i changed all the pcv hoses and cleaned the pcv valves which seem to open and close when i blow through them so they seem fine for a while.

when i replaced the pcv hoses i also replaced the ristriction spacers in each hose apart from the front passenger side hose as there wasnt one in there to begin with, but i did find the end of a wire cleaner that someone must hav snapped in there without realising, duhhhh to whoever did that.

could this be giving me smoke out the exhaust when i come off the throttle arfter a couple seconds of boost?

i get no smoke whatsoever on idle or when reving in nutral, neither do i get smoke with normal driving?

Ive still got plenty of power BUT the stock oil guage reads quite low on idle when warm?

There is no exhaust smoke when i take off the oil cap either.

once last thing is i still have the rear main oil sill to replace which is leaking quite nicely onto the whole length of the exhausts but thats being fixed when my clutch arrives seen as the box has to come off anyway.

Any suggestions welcome.

The wire cleaner SHOULD be in there lol. No one put it there but Mr Nissan :)

The oil in the pipes could well be there from previous PCV problems. Keep an eye on it but it could be the tubs on there way...

Think its supposed to have both tbh mate but can't remember 100%. I don't make a habit of peering inside breather hoses lol

start saving your pennies :(

i have been ready for this anyway :)

i wanna get a full rebuild sooner or later once all the other things i want are done :)

i thought a sign of turbos on their way out would be smoke on idle?

when i read that" pipe cleaner thing in there" i just knew where this post was going, class

yeah but its suppose to be int there. what happens if it dislodges and gets sucked into a turbo?

Think it is the wrong side to be sucked in the restrictor would stop it, the brush is there to stop the restrictor getting blocked up.

There was no restrictor in that one i dont think just a litle wire thing bout the size of the top of my little finger. it didnt lok riht to me.

mine smoke on acceleration lift off, then ate one of its pistons

you mean it smoked when you came OFF the throttle?

In the pipes there should be a metal disc with a hole drilled in the middle of it, have you done a compression test yet?

  • Author

yeah i put the metal discs back in.

im going to do a compression test 2mow.

Yep real bad if you put the clutch down it stopped

No idea did have 0psi on one of the cyclinders, but engine was dumped and a replacement put in rather than a rebuild, the turbo's looked fine though.
