When the car is cold i get a fair amount of white smoke from the drivers side exhaust pipe. It goes once the cars warm but you can see it at night with a tourch even when its warmed up ? Just wondered if this would be turbo related?

Is there anything i can do now to prevent anything breaking ??

i have the same problem too ,my offside exhaust is still chuffing out white smoke after the engine has been switched off.

just hoping it s not turbo related ,my cc is already screaming ! .

if its steam and is still steaming alot once warmed up could be sign of head gasket.

if its blue oily smoke when idling then turbo seals.

if its blue smoke when accelerating then rings or something internal :(

I think white smoke is generally OK, just condensation in the pipes.

mine does this all the time...

it stopped once the car had warmed up but its still a cause for concern.

could the fact its been in storage for a year have anything to do with it.

tho i have started it up regular.

certainly could be the cause.

see water slowly condensates inside the exhausts especially over time and if its been raining then water will be trapped inside and once the engine is started and the exhausts heat up the water heats up and creates steam thats what your seeing coming out simple, but if the head gasket has blown water is seeping around the head and the heat of the engine is boiling the water and then then it comes out thru the exhausts.

Ah yes sorry guys forgot to say, its been since its not been used regularly and it has been sat outside since august really. I first noticed at Z fest at night with a tourch (had the motor running for loud music :D ) had it running properly for the first time since november at the weekend and it was a white smoke / steam (didn't smell bad) coming from both pipes at first but the nearside went away almost imediatetly, the offside pipe continued until hot.

Doesn't seem to be using water or oil ?

Other thing....It's backfiring out of that bank too every now and then!!

sorry forgot to add, the smoke clears up quite a lot once the engine is warm and especially after a long drive.

my zed sits around for quite long intervals.

I would not worry about it if I was you...
