I absolutely love my car I've been working very hard to get it right and sort out the niggling faults with it. But this last week has left me almost suicidal. At the beginning of the week I was stopped in a lay by and a Polish Lorry driver decided to reverse into my car totally buggering up the front bumper. So now I have to go through the insurance to get it replaced. I took the car in to have the exhaust looked at as it was blowing on one side. I ended up coming out with a whole new system. Its a nice system, powerflow stainless steel, no cats anymore, but this has just highlighted more problems. After noticing some smoking at idle I replaced the PCV valves took the car down the road got back to have smoke pouring out of the exhausts. This means new turbos now. I'm gutted just as I think I'm working my way down the list something comes to bite me on the backside. Is there anyone out there who could recommend a good set of turbos or has a pair to sell or who knows of any good companies who sell them? Any thoughts would be welcome.

try the for salesection or get them refurbed, 1 of the traders may know someone or 1 of them might be breaking 1, ricey rocket usualy has 1 or 2 lying around.

eek, sorry to hear. The loss of back pressure from the decats have killed your tired tubs unfortunately.

Engine removal time. You can get your standard turbos reconditioned, I highly recommend Turbo Dynamics. Your looking at around £800 for the pair, or spend a little more to have them rebuilt with modified housings and larger impellors.

The other option it to import a set ot turbos, standard or upgraded from the U.S

Sticking a set of 2nd hand turbo's back on is a huge risk. Its a big job to remove the engine, fit 2nd hand turbos, refit and find they give up 500 miles down the road as well.

^ as that man says. if youre going to get the job done you simply CANNOT afford to skimp on anything. i had the dreaded blue smoke last year and had a full engine and turbo rebuild. the car's not quite ready to give me the payback yet though

Ok so I know I'm gonna need new turbo's. What else should I look at doing whilst I have the engine out? I don't want to go overboard, just things that could possibly need attention and is a good idea to do wihlst the engine is out.

just had tubs, heads all seals and gaskets rebuilt while it was out. when out found other things that needed doing and they had to be done.

Also for stuff like gaskets, seals etc etc is there a kit you can buy or will I have to buy em individually and if I do where to buy from? Answers on a postcard (or here) :P

you canget a full gasket kit off ebay but not sure on the quality, ask Dan(DTA) he'll be able to get them for ya.

yeah goto be turbo dynamics used these guys before on another vehicle they gave me an extra 70,000 rpm on top of the 180,000 rpm's stock.. on standard boost

MTL has a guide on how to refurb your turbos, you'll need to have them balanced after though (although he didn't and they appear to be going strong)

Gibster TT is selling Garrett t25 stage 2's. I'm thinking to go for them. They are the right money for me and they give me the option of upgrading the power of the car at a later date. We shall see.

Should have just bodged up the zort. doh

At least it will be sorted when the tubs have been done!

i was refering to a standard turbo on the vehicle in question spinning at 180,000 revolutions a min the ones i had done by turbo dynamics span at 250,000 revolutions a min with twin impeller blades, obviously you know a lot about turbos then
