Help!

I just been quoted >£500 for replacement brake lines and the price is high because the rear axle has to be dropped!

Does anyone know a way around this without compromising safety or any body who can do the job in or near Leeds?

The car also failed on rusted rear sills, am thinking of buying a wire arc welder from ebay for this but is there anywhere I can get replacement pre shaped panels from - I know ZCenter used to sell them but hes stopped now due to a greedy manufacturer??

Any help really appreiciated.

Had the same problem with my brake pipes last year and was told the same thing. I took it to my local friendly mechanic (who also does MOT's) and he managed to replace the bad bits of pipe by just removing the diff and getting in there somehow as he didn't fancy dropping the whole rear axle.

Anyway he did it, passed it and it was fine, went through the MOT again this year without a hitch.

Still cost me nearly £300 to get it done though :(

Cheers mateys, guess i know what to do now... just bite the bullet and fone the bank manager again!

I had my rear brake pipes done for mot last year and with the mot it all cost £100. He dident drop the axle but I cant remember how he done it? apart from sawing off the brake pipe as close as he could to where the pipe meets the screw in thread, then used a spanner/ratchet to remove nut.
