Im kinda pissed and chuffed I got one now :D heres the story.

Found a nice dark TT 300 that I have always wanted, phoned the seller and arrange viewing, I go and view and it seems ok yeah the body needs respraying and the boot needs replacing all am willing to do and fully update the interior and rebuild engine as am gonna try getting in the army for an amount of time as they allow me and the funds wont be used so what better than a childhood dream project :D. Now the guy lets me take it for a test drive and all seems ok turbos engine sounds fine temp good oil pressure good no knocks and clanks, and he bring up the convo of how its still in KM's on the clock so I take a look and its 99k (kms) well I think bargain as he said the cambelt had just been changed so would make it around the 61-62k mark. Well I pick it up and drive it home (slough to Broxbourne) when I get back I realise somethings wrong as the milage odo was giving same reading as my GPS. I decide to go through all the paperwork again as I did when I viewed it and I find papers that were not there before Like the Odometer conversion in 2000 so now its actually a 99k miles engine as supposed to a 99k Km engine .....Pissed......

Even worse is I find an old windscreen paper that says "no warranty" i read more into it and its because of excess rust behind the screen...

What do I do ? any ideas? Isn't there some rule/law against this or is it all on my back ? Also he advertised it as 65k KM's so is the false advertising involved? I ave not contacted him yet I need a heads up and cant get to CAB till monday now :S (Citizens advice bereau).

Thanks in advance.

Cant even find the adverts on Pistonheads or Autotrader no more to back this advertising issue up :S.

on the reciept you got does it say sold as seen , if it does you may not be able to do much as i had the same problem when i took someone to court over a simular thing

Nope just sold for £xxxx to me and thats it, think he would give my money back ? lol

if thats the case dont ask him for the cash back, if he says no the go further but make sure you mention to him about false advertisin and your begeting intouch with fare trading

Lol ok I think I am going to have to coz I bought it on the basis of being 99,000 kms not 99,000 miles. Im annoyed people are still like this. But I think I will get CAB to do it on my behalf coz I am to forgiving and a walk over in this sorta scenario. LOL

lol :D .

lets be honest though he must of been a bit of a :xxx: to tell you it was in kms and not take the reciept out of the paper work for the conversion :D

Im pissed and wanna get mah money back but this is a jap import and the power is unreal considering the age, and its cheap as chips to insure due to being classed as "Heavy oil" ;) but atm im looking at:

interior panels redoing and seats to be re-trimmed,

t-bar seals as small leak,

respray. you know just small stuff so its kinda 50/50. But after thinking for a while imma make it a project, but an advisory dont buy from anyone nameds Paul In Slough (specifically Plaines close SL1 5TY) so i guess that leave me with some random parts needed from a black (jap) 2+2 TT model lol. And you know Forge I am not a mechanic but I can sort some shit out but yeah he was a bit of a :xxx: lol.

anyways can this "excessive rust" be sorted behind the windscreen ? thats my only worry everything else seems ok apart from in need of the plastic guard around the wipers as half of mine is missing and i can see the battery lol....

Really sympathise- rust in that place on import unusual. Can't get my head round 'heavy oil'- isn't that diesal?

Regards

Dave

Your insurance will be void though, as we all know it's not a diesel.
