Hi, has anyone got a pair of rear drilled disc's that they can take a template of the hole pattern, all I need you to do is make a rubbing on some paper so I can transfer it on to a drilling jig.

cheers Paul

I hope you know what you're doing, if you simply drill them they WILL crack! You need to properly finish the holes, countersinking them and preferably re heat treating the disc once done...

You go paul. its good to see some diy mods going on here.

why not. and if they do go tits up just an excuse to buy uprated ones :)

Hi Andy, thanks for your concern, but I have 16yrs racing experience Racing Trucks with drilled and grooved brake disc's and am well aware of what is required, they weigh over 5 tonnes and have a limited speed of 100 mph that takes some stopping.

cheers Paul

ooooo if you get them drilled and they work il pay ya to do mine :)

can you skim disks too?

i would never try to do this to standard discs, i read an article somehwhere that this is extremely dangerous, at the end of the day they are there to stop the vehicle and maybe save you or someones life one day, i wouldnt tempt fate

they are only the rears which is 30% braking il still have the front to slow me down if theres a prob, but your right new drilled disks would be safer.

Fair enough Paul, good luck finding some :) As long as you're aware of the processes involved. Main thing is, you know what you're doing but someone else might read this and think they'll have a go ;) Hence my post :)

Cheers,

Andy

with all that experience i would have thought youd know where to drill? surely all manufacturers drilling positions etc are all different so just drill away in the style you fancy?

no offence btw... was meant in the nicest possible way! im assuming your aware what sort of stress testing the standard discs have undergone so that you dont over stress them...

Hi Joel, sorry but I never saw your reply until today when reading back through the thread.

Even after 16 yrs of racing I'm not big headed enough to think I know it all and am always prepared to ask for and listen to other people's advice, It was not a case of not knowing where to drill, but of saving some time, if someone has already got the hole pattern for the disc then it would be quicker for me to make a template from that, and as for over stressing these parts it's highly unlikely to happen to these very over engineered parts, unless you use them for track days or your a traffic light Grand Prix racer, and I don't do either of these.

No offence taken btw

regards Paul
