Just out of interest, whats the definitions of a stage 1 tuned car etc ?? I've read other threads but they tend to differ,

 

For instance i have

 

HKS air filter

Stainless Cat Back

 

(and will fit after MOT this weekend)

 

Chiped ECU

EBC running 1 bar

 

Would that make the car a stage 1 yet ??

This should be interesting i would like to know the definitions of 'stages'.

Stillen made their own stage chart. SGP made their own stage chart.

 

Many others have their own version, and some individuals just use their own judgement.

 

The entire thing works in the sense that one valid stage chart would help when comparing two vehicles. However, with so many published versions and other improvisational versions. There is no use for them unless someone knows to which chart you are referring.

Generally, stages are for people who dont have a fookin' clue about whats been done to their car.

 

IE. They dont know what turbos they have so say "Yeah stage 2 turbos"

oh god, that gets confusing then, so theres stages to the tub's as well??

 

I understand its the level of tune and that the numbers increase with whats done, just wondered what the threasholds were for each one ??

Ignore the stage system. It's unreliable. So many variables and most of them are just down to someone stating their car is a Stage 4 or whatever. Walk away from the terminology.

if you want a stage go into acting, only thing that counts is bhp and lbft :tongue:

The power figures the likes of JWT, HKS, Stillen..etc claim you will be at each "stage" is laughable. I dont agree with the order they put them in either.

 

The only people that use Stages, are those who don't have a clue what they are talking about....usually telling you a story about a mate of a mate who has a "Stage 5" Scooby with 2 million BHP.
