Hi can anyone help, I have just bought my first Zed and the autobox appears to have a problem. when I put it into D when cold there is no drive and the engine revs upto around 1500/2000 rpm and when the revs drop off the car will creep forward. but as soon as it wants to change up to 2nd it just looses the drive. When the car is warm there is no drive at all. Is it electrical or is it internal gearbox.

 

Any help will be welcomed

PS I did no there was a fault when I bought it

Have you checked the oil levels? If there is no oil you will get no drive. That's the cheap problem to check for.

as above check the oil level and if its brown CHANGE IT you need dexronIII

doesn't sound good...

 

you could clean/replace the filter as a last resort (you'll have to drop the oilpan of the transmission to be able to access the filter)...or start looking for a new transmission

I have found a couple of gearboxes and the price is really good under £400 with a warranty, so I suppose at the worst its not going to cost a fortune

Did you check fluid level with engine on! and on a level surface?

unusual to get some creep, unless stator shaft stripped.

have you tried it in hold mode, or moving of in 2nd? could be clutches but should not all go.

if all else fails get it checked by auto specialist. QAS in Filton is best I know in Bristol area.

Yea I did check it with the engine running hot & cold and on a level surface, its really bizzare sympton, once the cold idler has let the revs drop down to about 700 the transmission engages and moves away but only in first gear. my garage is going to run the diagnosrtics given by legrath, I will

 

keep you all informed of the outcome.

Sounds like u might! The box is interchangeable I used a JDM spec my UK and it feels no different to before - except it all works! Different ECUs

i just changed my box to a JDM and due to test it this weekend!!

no my original ecu from UK worked perfect with JDM box. Just plug n play same connectors

HI everyone at last the Zed is on the road had to replace the box in the end as time taken was getting to be more than a replacement box. Went for my first drive yesterday. Went to Southampton and back. Man are these cars quick !
