Hi all im a bit confused just looked at my Ecu so i could do the test i have a red led i can see on the side but not screw/switch to put it in to the right mode?

 

is there another way to do the test to see if there are any fault codes, im abit stumped now ,

you doing a fault diagnostic?

the screw is set partialy in the ecu next to the led it easier to take out the 3 screws that hold the ecu in place you can see the screw then

It's much easier to short the correct pins on the diag port, then it displays on the dashboard.

so the screw is inside the ecu next to the red led yeah ?

 

 

yup just turn ignition on then turn screw to the left for a couple of secs then turn to the right ,the led will flash along with your engine management light

just looked theres no screw there at all :O

 

been looking on jim wolfs ecu identification list with the serial numbers of the ecu .. mine isnt there A18-A98 MD7

ok sorry i dont know how to do links ,but type fault codes in search tab down to the result starting in "codes" go into that post ,go down to legraths reply and tab on to 1st method, this shows you step by step with pictures

There should be a small hole with a sticker with a circular arrow around it. The screw (is actually a potentiometer) and is inside the ECU.

Make sure you are using the correct pins - check the plug has one square end and one bevelled end.

Ignition on, engine not started, plug in wire for a few secs and look at the ECU light on the dashboard. I think it repeats the codes until you turn off the ignition.

Nope theres nothing there :(

 

Right i put the jumper wire into the connection plug and the only thing that happenes is the engine check light goes out, waited for 3seconds or more and nothing no flash from the engine light or anything :(

lol ok got it working lol told ya i was being blonde i forgot to take the jump wire out lol

its giving me 5 slow flashes and 5 fast flashes

Right guys ive found the problem its none of the above its to do with the cas just went to check the timing and was out so set it to the 15 deg btdc but when you tighten the bols up the car cuts out??? any idea's

or should i start a new thread
