Hay ppl,

 

This is going to sound a bit stupid, but wanted some advice, as some may know my car has a smoking problem and a small oil leek, i am starting to think that it might be down the the headgasket, ive found these on ebay and just wanted to know what or if anyone has used them and what they think about em' ?

you dont get blue smoke when the gasket has gone. its mainly clear, as it is steam/water.

Blue = Turbo/s

Its white smoke that im getting not blue and theres gunky yellow crap on the petrol cap, also oil is getting through from somewhere as its collecting in the exhausts. It seems to smoke more if i boot it.

defo the gasket then. but that will not explain why you are burning oil, Have you done a compession test????

Gunk in the oil cap isn't always a sign of HG failure. If you do lots of short journeys, it could be condensation that's not given a chance to burn off. Have you checked the coolant level?

 

I wouldn't trust an ebay HG set though.

i back the theory that yellow gunk is condensation!

sounds like pcv vavles or turbo,s to me if you have oil in exhaust! mine was tub seals shot!! liked smoking when blipped after being at idle and when i booted it! seemed more white than blue too!

Cheers guys. Shes going in for an mot tomorrow so i might as well get them to check for the head gasket while its in there. I was told that they did a compresion test when it went in to have the turbos replaced but im begining to wonder now. Problem is eveyone who i contact about this car either dont wanna know or mucks me about. If anyone knows of anybody decent in my area it would be much appreciated.

I would not buy that gasket set as it says it's for VG30DE and VG30DET not the VG30DETT which says to me possibly it's a Z31 gasket kit.

Well my BF has been on the phone to chris at z tech and its going in monday for a cheak and hopefully to be sorted once and for all.

 

Im just tired of people messing me about and not wanting to do a import and such a modified car and the fact that i had SO MUCH intrest when i was going to sell her, but just had people come to view it who were a waste of time and pissing me about cos they diddnt have the cash.

You could try Brad at Motovation, he's at East Hanney, between

Wantage & Marcham. He looked after my z and also looked after

my Supra & my mr2.

He does a good job, and his rates are reasonable too (compared to a main dealer!).
