lol i can answer this too ;)

i have rebuilt several calipers over the years and yes they are easy :) you will have to use your ingenuity to remove the seized piston but youll get there in the end with a series of lube and pry bars :D before you do anything soak them in wd or a diesel bath etc for a few days.

you would do them off the car... always a good chance to clean/paint and bake them for a long lasting colour if you fancy that?...

as for the rebuild kits... look no further than http://www.biggred.co.uk/ ... the prices are superb and the quality of the kits exceed oem standard.

They are the same as the only difference is the jaw width of the calipper. everything else is the same. These kist only supply the piston seals and if any pistons are scared you'll need new pistons.

these do the lot

yes agreed... but be aware that the db seal kits are per caliper...

big red do sell the pistons if you need them but im not sure how competitive their prices are compared to db-power as iv never had to buy 1... couple of options for you to follow up on though :D

last time i used them late last year i phoned them to get a repair kit for the impreza... after a chat to make sure we had all the right models and part numbers etc the price i saw was the price i paid... not sure if thats normal or not but i was not charged p&p... im sure if they do it will be peanuts.

thanks for that lads. hopefull that should save me abit on money if i do thise myself. the cars been off the road too long now and the Mot was the final straw, as all the jobs that needed do will be about 1200, but if i do as many of them as i can then i should be able to more than half the bill, as i have too much money in it now to throw in the towel and scrap it .

Get the back in action Grahame! BTW I have heard that blasting the pistons out with compressed air is a good option. Thats how my uncle got mine out of the Z,

lol Ivan i'm trying too, and i was all set to be on the road this weekend but the MOT man had other ideas, ah well i've not really had the car now for the last 3 years so a couple more months won't hurt lol.

Oh and do sell the pistons for £12 each and if not in stock they take about 5 days to sort out

ive allways found with the calipers (but not tried it on a zed) still fitted but hanging remove the pads and press the brake.....pop and there out :)

thanks Brian, i had heard the same. Hopfully if there seized after the pads or taken out ill put a piece of wood in to the calipers leaving just one piston out and hopefully have them all loose that way.
