Need a second opinion on this please.

I have been having a problem with the battery on the Zed going flat quite quickly (car isn't in regular use, but is kept garaged). So I recharged & left the battery with the negative terminal disconnected for a couple of nights to tell if the battery was the problem. Checked it last night and the voltage had dropped to 10volts which wasn't enough to even turn the engine over.

So does this sound like a duff battery then? There isn't any way that a parasitic power drain can cause the voltage drop if the circuit is left open (as far as I am aware!), is there?. I have tested for a power drain to the best of my ability using the amps setting on my multimeter but couldn't detect anything of significance.

Don't want to go buying another battery and find the problem is still there if I can avoid it.

Cheers...

If the batt aint holding charge it prob has a dead cell.

I'd replace the batt' anyway or if your really unsure, try loaning one and see if it holds charge over night ok.

Hope this helps.

If the battery is loosing charge while its disconected then it has to be the battery knackered, theres nothing else it can be unless the battery fairys have been sneeking into your garage on a night time!!

stranger things have happened!!

Most fast fit places are able to test a battery but it needs a full charge the night before to be accurate. Does sound like its the battery though to me.

Thanks for the replies, looks like I am on the right track. Will go to the motor factors tomorrow and get a replacement.
