LOL my dad always says the same things :(

Anyway the PTU is bolted onto the left hand side cam cover, its a grey 'corrugated' metal box about 3"x3", with a plug at either end of it.

From past experience there is no way of testing a PTU unless you have another one so you can swap them over, or at least that was the case when i needed to test mine. A kind club member sent me one to try, and i would happily do the same for you but my car is away being fixed.

Sorry i can't be of more help.

HTH.

whats the weather like up your way cos its been frosty here and mine done it this morning but it went away after about 5 mins, could be just damp.

Fingers crossed i have fixed it, It wasnt the coilpack connetors but the little ones in front were all green and scummy all 6 of them.

Loads of WD and scraped them all clean and all the others around, fired it up and shes sweet as a nut again :D

BTW its loverly and sunny has been for about a week

Thanks for your help people

Great I hope thats thats the fix and fingers crossed for you. If it occures again though

It could easily be that it is the insulation on the coil pack or injector connector leads cracking. This is the hazzard of moving them as they become very brittle. Once they start cracking up they will short out in damp or wet conditions until they melt enough insultion to short perminantly. Only solution is to get the new leads and connector kits from Z1 or MJP and cut olf out and solder new in. Or pray that we have no more damp weather.

When I had my plenum off I replaced all the electrical connectors and the car has never run better.

deffo worth replacing injector connectors even if you go to scrap yard and get some of the newer type connectors from fords/rovers you can easily modify em to fit, all you need to do is slice off the centre notch (fords are in middle and japs off centre) on the injectors by far the best mod and cheapest imho
