Hi guys, just a quick question. I think I have 2 warped disks on the front of my zed, and was wondering 1) where you would go to get replacements and 2) how easy they are to fit. I'm not scared of a spanner, but have heard stories of people screwing it up on other models... In case it matters, i'm in a J-spec '92 manual TT

Thanks for any help..

I got mine from ebay, shouldn't take much more than around 30 minutes per side for the front disks.

For the sake of a quid, I would recommend getting hold of a couple of M10 bolts first. They can be screwed into the front of the old disks to push them off the hubs. Repeated hammering may have the desired effect eventually, but mine seemed pretty stuck (I think rears need M8).

You may need to adjust the pads slightly (the new disks will be slightly thicker).

I have some "just run in" ADL front discs - if you are interested. I also have rebuilt calipers with new(ish) Hawk pads. I had it all fitted then shortly after upgraded to GTR34 brembos.

Cool. Thanks guys. Jeremy, for my sins, i was gonna get the disks on plastic, so don't think i'd be able to hand over any cash for a month or 2... :-)

I have a pair of reasonably good ones (standard) you can have for free! Im in south yorkshire so possibly uneconomical for you to collect...but the offers there if you want em!

Should always fit new pads with new discs to get the best braking and best wear.

suggest you get drilled /grooved discs as replacements ( black diamond or similar ) great improvement at not much extra cost.

If Haxman doesn't have these and the offer still stood for me then I could really do with these? Definately be a pint in it for ya :duffer: (if i ever meet ya, lol)

Cheers

...knackered tie rod end bushes? They will give you the feeling that your disks are warped.

Good luck

Bigdan, I probably won't go for Gaijins, just cos i'm too lazy too go to yorkshire! (thanks anyway Gaijin :-) ). I think its the disks jack, because when i jack it up, and spin the front wheel, theres a slight rubbing at certain points on the rotation....

just 1 more tip, make sure you clean the hub with a wire brush cos if you dont you'll be doin it again in about 6 months.
