Bought 3 odd alloys in pretty bad shape now managed to get a forth brand new one, so its time to refurb.

I need advise on polishing the lip/dish, i am planning on painting the spokes gold and i think they will look good with a polished lip, so my question is how do i get pic 2 to look like pic 3 (pic 1 is to show how they were).

I have a dremel (well a copy) but have no idea how to use it and what heads i need etc....

If i can't do it i'll resort to plan B and that is to paint the dishes a brilliant silver.

Any suggestions most welcome. ;)

You would need something more robust than a Dremel type tool Bud.Go get a bench grinder polisher from MachineMart An 850 watt one will sort yer wheels out no prob.Powerfull enough not to slow down under pressure.Dont cost much and always handy.

The set i have now were bad and i paid to have them done, he came to me and did them and did a CRAP job (not saying they are all like that) but the best thing about it was i learnt how to do it ;) So i know want to refurb these ones but don't know if i can polish the lips, if i can't i'll do em silver but i think they'll look really good polished. :)

Drill wont go fast enough beleave me.Been there done that got the T Shirt lol.Like I said=Bench Polisher.Or Hand held air line or electric polisher.

:) Before putting the car of the road last year I had started to polish my alloys using a similar kit, it is designed to be used by a standard drill although I didnt finish them it did a pretty good job......but then again Im not an expert on all things shiney, unlike yourself :smw:

What exactly did you buy/use???

I thought maybe this, especially as it says wheels polishing kit.

I used one given to me by a mate who had used it to polish some of the engine casings on his bike. That looks exactly the same kit as the one I was given, though mine has a couple of additional smaller mops.

You will need to remove any laquer and smooth the alloy down with some fine emery paper first before polishing.

Cheers bud. I have already removed laquer and smoothed using 1500 and 2000 so i just need to get the kit and get polishing :)

I used fine steel wool and then metal polish to finish. I'll need to do it all again though because by the time I get the car back on the road it will be nearly 2 years since I started polishing them

if you want a real good shine try useing some polish called peek makes the whole thing look like chrome

Where do you buy it???

Also does it actually make it look like chrome cos i don't want a chrome finish i think it looks a bit cheap TBH. I just want a polished look.
