Peeps,

Im looking at a zed this weekend, which for the age of the car would normally have the series 2 climate control. I have noticed that it has manual "climate control" with sliders and knobs for changing the fan speed and temperature.

Is is possible to convert it from the manual setup to the full digital climate control???

If it is, how much work is it, and what needs to be changed, i.e is it just the control pod on the dash, or is there other bits that would need to be changed?

Cheers

Nick

total assumption but wouldnt you also have to fit the aircon ecu and the control box (with the motors and flaps to control the air direction)

i recon it would be a complete arse to do!!!

AFAIK it is possible - pretty sure Markzx did it on one of his... think it was just the pod itself and one of the ecu's under the dash which needed changing, but it's a PITA to get to!!

well the sell said its deffo got air con, so who it still have the aircon ecu, or does only the digi climate control use the ecu?

Here you go... was Mark asking, and 2 people confirmed: thread link

Good luck!

No thats just a series 1 to series 2 upgrade. Both electric. Lots of done this, myself included. Its straightforward.

I've not seen anyone do a Manual Control Pod to Digital Climate control upgrade though.

Ive never seen the manual control pod before. Did they do them throughout the zeds life, or only on certain years.

I always thought the digital climate was standard on the laters cars?

Can anyone confirm or deny this

Digial was Standard on earlier cars, but became an option in later years (like series 3 or 4 onwards) when Nissan started saving costs.

All convertables also came with Manual controls.

Ah *****cks - that will teach me to scan read!! Manual was on early cars, then re-introduced on the later models when costs were cut apparently... never seen them myself to be honest.

I thought that was the case, but i just double checked on 300zx.org.uk and it doesnt say.

So does anyone know what makes up the digital climate control, ie motors wiring etc.

Is there any tech drawings anywhere that might be able to show me what is involved in doing some thing like this?

I thought the pod above was fitted to convertables only! or some later models, never seen the manual pod fitted to early series 1 cars?.

how do you find it in comparison to climate control?

It's just like your standard car Air-Con. Nothing clever just blows cold air out where/when you want it.

Have got the digital display on mine, have had a look and there isn't any special wiring in the back of it - so i'd assume its a straight swap! The digitals a bit easier to work with as it keeps the temperature to the figure you set on it.

Not sure if thats any help to you?
