As far as I know the prop is balanced off the car, so the best you can hope for is putting it back in the same position as before, where hopefully it was OK. You could undo the bolts and move it a 1/4 turn at a time until you find a point that is good (or at least better). Is your centre bearing support in good condition ?

Before you start spending a lot of time under the car playing with the propshaft, which is not a pleasant job I can asure you, check your wheels both for damage and for balance. If possible try to borrow some spare wheels and try them. I had this problem on a previous Zed and spent a lot of time struggling with rotating the propshaft through the 8 bolts positions, without success, had my wheels balanced and it still persisted but only at about 95 and above. I then upgraded to 19" wheels and ..............wow...supersmoooooooth. I have had a similar experince on my latest Zed which is fitted with Advans which are 10J on the rears. On getting the tyres changed recently, the tyre fitter pointed out that the rim was distorted on the inside. He modified it with a soft mallet and once again the vibes were gone. If your centre bearing is OK, and the universal joints are not siezed, I bet it is a problem with a wheel(s).

atm the vibration feels like an overclocked rampant rabbit!

PMSL ROFL  My black zed is doing the same and I wondered why all the girls kept wanting a lift and told me to drive @ a steady 45mph.....

...another easy one is that when it was put back on the centre bearing spacer were used as washers instead of spacers.

Been there, done that, got the Tshirt.

Good luck

...also there is a way to check the alignment so that it either right or 180 degrees out. Problem is I can't remember it. I'll have a look in the book tonight and report back.

This might be difficult to describe. The part of the prop that fastens to the diff (the back half) is made out of the shaft with it's UJ bearings at either end - and 2 (one either end) flanges also with UJ bearings. The flange UJs (this is where I need a sketch) are aligned ie the same way up (cant describe this properly - sorry). When you bolt the front half of the prop to the flange, it's UJ joint needs to be in the same alignment. The UJ joint on the part that goes into the gearbox needs to be at right angles to the UJs in the flanges.

That's it, can't describe it any better without a sketch.

If it still vibrates then you unbolt the centre flange and turn it through 180 degrees.

Good luck
