Just got a second hand gear knob(in great cond from Peach on the forum here;thanks mate ;) and want to know how to fit it .Does old one unscrew anti clockwise..am I going to damage anything by using a bit of force?All advice,as always,gratefully appreciated

Yep, just unscrews anti-clockwise......usually quite easily..but have had to cut a couple off before. I think that sometimes previous owners must glue them on to stop them moving.

I just unscrewed that one matey, but it was fecking tight!! If I remember rightly, I ended up wearing a pair of leather gardening gloves (clean, of course ;) ) to get it off.

If you don't need the old gear knob you may have to use a oil filter chain to get it off.

Mine was glued on with some sort of space glue, rock solid, I think it was instant metal or something.

Mine was so hard I had to cut the leather and plastic off to get a pair of polygrips on to the metal part.

lol i can imagine the look on the neighbours face after you put your leather gardening gloves on then got in the car followed by some whining and rocking!

Nissan glued /locktite them on in the factory when new .

I had a loose one which came off by hand with hardly any effort required :D
