Just a thought, anyone fancy Bristol Classic Car Show 16th & 17th Feb for our next meet? Could chose one of those days? Mind you TVR club advertising it another site saying cancelled so anyone know if it going ahead?

This is just an idea so I can get some feedback ;)

Not sure if we will be attending this, as not much interest for a meet so might give it a miss.

This would not just be a meet, it is a classic car show, admittedly the only Zeds there would be in the car park but it is usually a good show with over 70 car clubs and approx. 70 trade stands, which means a good selection of goodies at cheap prices like silicone hose, water pipes, brake pipes and hosed, polishes and chamois etc., and some cheap tools. There was a guy there last year selling quality aluminium racing car jacks which easily slid under a Zed and lifted the car about 500mm for £150.

This not going ahead as a meet then?

Well as for meets, its the same 3 people coming up from this end and the same one person coming down to this end at every meet !

Wont be able to make this now as still waiting for parts for MOT  Sorry to anyone attending

When i was doing the SW stuff i found it hard to incorporate the Devon Cornwall crowd, mainly due to distance. Most of our meets were Glos, Bristol, Weston etc. I always felt that the SW patch should have been split into 2. They could always have 1 in 4 as a joint meet but if split into 2 then it would be easier for the orginisers to please a higher majority of members.

I dont mind the travelling, its the petrol costs that soon mount up. I can only keep trying to please everyone but really it is in 2 groups as not often do the cornish travel(no offence) and nor do the Gloucester. But at the end of the day I am here to do a job and if that means upsetting some members of SW well that cant be helped. I DO make the effort to attend all meets and have since I started going. I actually enjoy the great blasts up n down the motorway, just a shame not many others do

I think we should try and get a mod done to the zed like they started putting on BMW's where in town it would cut out some of the cylinders to save fuel. If you could switch that in and out I reckon you would get 40 mpg. (I wish)

Ye, nice idea, lol. Was thinking of gassing mine but they seem to be closing all gas stations down here so dont think i'll bother

I know it's a bit late in the day but I've decided to go to the show tomorrow (Saturday). The weather forecast is great and it's not too far from me and it will give my Zed an airing, it hasn't been on the road for a couple of weeks.

I'll look out for any of you in the car park.

edit PS If anyone wants to meet at the show give me a call on 07711 696960!

Hi Dave, I went Sunday and it was not really that good. Some nice cars there, i.e., 'E' types especially, some for sale including a V12 manual, which is rare, that had been totally restored at a cost of £25K and that was what the guy wanted for it. A cheap car that. Everything was mundane really. A bit dissappointed on the spares thingy too, I wanted various sizes of water hose pipe and some silicone piping, and came away with noting. There was no silicone pipe at all and the only heater pipe available was marked 'fuel pipe' and the seller assured me it would be OK. When I asked about temperature he replied 'no probs at all, its tested to 1400 degrees'. I did not bother to ask if that was 'C' or 'F', and just left it anyway. The best car in the show I reckon was an immaculately restored Jensen Interceptor, which really was an eyeful, but with all the ropes and signs around it, the camera stayed in its bag. Weather was excellent and a large pastie (£3.80) went down well. Not one Zed in the car park.

What a shame, glad I couldnt make it tbh by your report  Will post something up for March soon. Going to be down this way a bit tho due to being at Castle Combe for April and May :)

Any suggestions welcome :duffer:

I went on Saturday and I agree with Old Zed......the best things were the weather and the bacon roll I bought there for breakfast. :(

It's the first time I've been to the showground and thought the show was pretty poor, for Zed owners anyway. There were loads of bits-and-pieces stalls but not many classic cars. I stayed for less than two hours then left and enjoyed the sunshine by driving home. (I did stop at Frome for lunch and had a really great pub curry at The George).

It's also the first time I have been to Frome and spent an hour or so wandering round this extremely attractive olde-worlde town. We really do have some splendidly picturesque places in this country.

edit PS I'm really looking forward to Bromley this year.....that's what you CALL a classic car show!!!

Sorry to hear this guys, sorry for suggesting it :(

Don't apologise, it might have been a crumby show but the day out was fantastic..........couldn't have had a better day for taking the Zed for a run......and the food was great :smash: (an important factor for me).

So, thanks for the suggestion Lisa
