I took off my battery today and had a look behind the engine, this is what i saw.

note the red circle is an oil trail

Then i saw this.

Pipe is split so i changed it with a fresh one and inserted the spacer from the old. This is where it came from.

I thought i got lucky and maybe this was where the smoke was coming from but sure enough i went for a test drive and its still smoking around that area.

The rocker cover gasket doesnt seem too oily but then again i cannot really get a good look at the other side of the cover.

any ideas people?

as i want to book it in to have the oil leak fixed but i want to be sure where its coming from first....

Well it depends who is doing it, if u know what needs done they cant charge for work that doesnt need done if u get my drift. I used to work in a main dealer albeit with commercials and I know what goes on. If its someone u know or trust maybee from here then thats different. Kinda difficult choice there i'd say.

See thing is if i find the oil leak and am 75% sure its what i think it is and i pay for the garage to fix it and it turns out to be something else im going to be.... not happy to say the least.

If i leave it down to the mechanic to find and fix the leak then theres no excuse for the car to come back still leaking or il want my money back

Thats why its difficult. These cars are very difficult to diagnose and with limited access to see where its coming. So again difficult one there as I would do the work myself so its your shout really.

I wanna do it myself but i dont have the correct tools.

im willing to pay 400 quid tops to get all my leaks sorted.

is that too much?

Why not buy the parts first then its only labour, ie cam seals, front crank seal, timing belt etc. Cant really say how much it'll cost as garages vary.
