Here it goes... Short and sweet version...

My car is going in Mon/Tues to get the autobox replaced as other one went boom a few months back....

anyways.... the car has been parked for 3-4 months maybe a little longer... at first i did start her regularly... but then battery died and once in a while i did give her a little jump with the leads and bring her to life.... not done so for a while now...

anyways... today i put my battery on charge getting her ready to go to the garage on monday.... here is where the problems start...

SHE WONT START!

The lights come on.... looks as though she is going to roar but when i turn the key.... it ticks, sounds fine..... but doesn't fire up..... Here is my question....

WHATS THE PROBLEM?!!!

So please help me.... because I think I will cry as i been busy getting everything I need to get that damn box sorted... got me some Dexron III ATF,

also gasket for oil pan, some decats which were to go on at the same time... whilst she was parked i got a pair of Baileys DV36's which I thought would be going pssssst soon but if I can even start her I guess I'm one step further back than i started!

Help a brother in need      :(

Sounds obvious, but have you got enough fuel in it.. If there is fuel in, how long has it been in there, as petrol goes stale

buggered then lol.

Erm spark, fuel?? obviously plenty of electricity about toturn it over so it cant be that.

So PTU perhaps?

Fuel pump?

Check for a spark!

would PTU just give up being parked ?

and how wud one check for a spark lol?

Have you disconnected the battery at any point? might need tightening up - sounds electrical so check all the connectors! Is it clicking but no spark as that sounds like the ignition is not been fed.

Sorry.. Do you mean it's not even turning over?..

turns over.... but doesn't start... not sure why? could it be starter motor?

Well they are pretty shit so PTU might just give up!

Checking for a spark... i wouldnt know, but i presume sticking your tongue on the end of a spark plug probably wouldnt be very helpful... Im sure someone will be able to tell you.

Maybe something if you search the forum.

Wont be starter motor if it turns over, does it sound right when it turns over? I mean the normal noise?

    ok anyone else got any ideas

Try removing the fuel pump fuse (30A cartridge in small fuse box on driver's side rear of engine). Turn her over a few more times to dry out the plugs, then replace fuse and try again.

The old fuel shouldn't be a problem. I've run mine on 12 month old Optimax with no problems (albeit carefully)
