Starter/Flywheel

Hi can anyone tell me if the starter is the same on all models? I have an NA manual that needs a starter and most likely a flywheel/ring-gear. Due to lack of cash at the moment it will be second hand spares, just wondering what fits what. I would assume auto flywheels are different, but what about the starter?

Thanks for any help in advance.

The starter is the same on every model...

However flywheels are different on the TT and NA (due to the gearbox being differnt)

So starter can be from anything (auto manual NA TT etc) but the flywheel has to be from a manual NA :)

Assuming you had the same problem, did you find any particularly good deals?

Wel not as such, i've just had my car converted to a manual. As i dropped the car off the guys there asked me if i had got a starter motor, as they claimed the auto one didnt fit a manual box...

So i started ringing around and asking some people, and after a bit of working out i realised that the starter is the same, but since the box size changes and so does the flywheel, when you have an NA box in a TT with a TT flywheel the starter is then too close to the flywheel and has to be moved out with a bracket or washers etc.

But, second hand starters can be foudn regularly on the forum for little money, put a wanted post up.

Flywheels, well i notice your from germany, dont know about prices over there. But my new TT flywheel and clutch came from america and that was an awesome deal... I.e equivilent kit over here was a good £700+ where as delivered to my door, after the import tax was about £260 for a lightened flywheel and stage 2 clutch, good for 400bhp ish and 400 lb/ft of torque

I'll check it out. I have been living here for nearly 5 years, and was getting stuff from the UK. Then I realised that with the £-$ exchange rate I was cheaper getting stuff from the States.

Thanks for your help.
