Well once again my 300 gave up last night after work i started the car up it ran for a few seconds then it cut out and i found it had blew the 30amp pump fuse so i got it recovered home and had a poke around and bypassed the fuel pump relay and still nothing so tonight i put the relay back in and tested the out put and i had power so then i found the fuel pump cover in the boot and unpluged the pump and tested the feed to it and i had power so then i pluged the pump back in and hey it works again so are the pumps prone to going wrong also on the pump system is it just a pump relay and thats it or is there more ie an ecu?? cheers chris

Chris, there is a fuel pump ECU behind the rear passager interior card, you have to take the rear seat's out to get at it.

ahh so there is a ecu for it looked at the manual got a bit confused and wasnt 100% sure why do they make it so complicated they should have a basic fuel pump set up so do you know if there are any known probs with these ecu's

Sorry Chris, don't know if these have any known problems,I'm sure someone will let you know soon.

I had a similsr problem on a previous car and thought the problem was either the fuel pump, the ECU or the fuel pump relay and through the generosity of Zedworld who supplied me all the replacements parts on a sale or return setup, I was able to replace each part in turn to check them. It turned out that they were all OK and the problem stemmed from a bad connection between the PTU and the CAS. The fuel pump system will not power up unless the ignition system is also fully powered up, and hence my problem. If you remove the CAS but keep it wired up electrically, and turn on the ignition, as you rotate the CAS spindle you should be able to hear the injectors firing and the fuel surging through the system, you might possibly hear the pump running but it is at the rear of the car. My fault was intermitent due to a bad connection and ended being recoverd twice before I finally sorted it.
