Just a quick question. At the moment im having my engine changed. First question is, how many people changed their wiring loom when the took the engine out. The second question is can the loom be changed with the engine in. Just in case there are any electrical gremlins after the change.

Is it worth changing. What do you think??

Cheers ;)

Yes it can be changed with engine in place, and I would recomend changing it if your existing loom is feeling brittle and you have broken and/or corroded connectors....you can just replace all the connectors , but its not uncommon for the loom itself to have breaks within.

I have been told that some connectors are corroded and its brittle. Just that im short of funds at the moment and was wondering if its worth trying to find the cash now or if the problem can be rectified later. is it a bitch of a job?

If short on funds I would leave it for now and change afterwards if it becomes a problem with engine replaced, but since one of the more common reliablity issues is engine wiring is nice to have a fresh loom in there to work with.

Its a little easier with no engine, as only complicated bit is getting the loom through the firewall, but its still ok with engine in place. You'll need to remove glovebox and air ducting to make things easier.
