Hi guys, yet more on the old Hicas Light. I've checked the fluid level (ok), I've checked the fluid level switch (ok), and the light stays on. I've been reading back through old threads about steering angle sensors, but this only seemed to effect cars with aftermarket steering wheels. I've also tried putting the car into the Hicas Diagnostic but after about 20 attempts gave up.

Please Help!!

FYI the car is a J-spec manual, with the original steering wheel. The light comes on as soon as i turn the steering wheel to get out of my parking space.

Just tried getting the car into the diagnostic mode again but still wouldn't work. One thing i did notice was that the Hicas light only comes on when I turn the Steering wheel to the left almost to full lock. It doesn't come on if i turn the wheel to the right.

Thanks snowy. I've already checked the fluid level and it was okay. I've finally got the Hicas to go into the Diagnostics and its throwing up a Code #4, Hicas Solenoid fault. Am i right in thinking this is under the car, actually mounted to the steering rack? Its not too clear from the online manual.

Cheers, Mark

Solenoids are behind the drivers headlight :)

The PS solenoid is on the rack where the UJ joins...

Thanks for the info. Andy. Its strange that the PS solenoid is at fault because the steering appears to be working okay (not heavy).
