Got my Mondeo in having some work at the local Ford Garage. On offer as courtesy cars were 'Ka' and 'Fiesta', Ka being totally impractical, I opted for the Fiesta. Now I've driven these before when they were launched and thought they were ok. I only drove the odd one or two locally, but had to drive to Coventry and back in a 1.25 version today.

Ok, so it was never going to be an exciting ride, but what a truly miserable and uncomfortable car the Fiesta really is. I can quite happily do a 4hr+ drive non-stop in the Mondeo, but a few hours in the Fiesta had my back and legs aching. The road noise is terrible, as is the performance and droan the engine made at 70!

Horrid horrid little car. Sure is ideal for old ladies pottering around town, but little else. I went from thinking the Fiesta was an ok little car to hating it.

It's times like this you realise how much you miss cruise control!!!

Not bad when you can get a brand new fiesta with auto headlights, auto wipers, heated front screen, sony cd player, power-fold mirrors a petrol engine that can give you 40+mpg and still do over 100mph.

with metallic paint, alloy wheels, 6 months tax, 3 years warranty and a years free roadside assistance.

all for less than £8.5k!!!

Do you work for Ford by any chance? I wouldn't care if it came with gold plated hubcaps, it's still awful!

Yeh, i do :D

Not the best car in the world, but a long way off being the worst. But hey, if we all liked the same cars then life would be pretty boring.

I like the Mondeo I have. :)

Good good, thought about changing it for the new model?

You will also be pleased to know, if you didnt already, that a completely re-designed fiesta will be with us very soon.

Fiesta is very long in the tooth. Needs to be replaced. They get blown around by the slightest breath of wind. I am sure the ST is quite good, but the run of the mill just isn't up to much.

I saw the facelift Focus today there and it looks just like the new Mondeo from the front.

Really like the new Mondeo. Fantastic cruiser. Currently have a 55-plate Zetec TDCi saloon.

Fiesta has been around for 30 years now, new one is going towards ford's kinetic design with similar features to the mondeo and now the focus.

Concept looks like this:

Fiesta..... top selling car of all time :p

'Backstreet boys' and Millenium was the best selling album of 1999, doesn't mean it was 'good music'. lol

Looks very nice. I expect it'll look slightly different in production format and I expect the bottom of the range will look terrible like the bottom of the range Mondeos with their castor wheels...lol

PS, the Focus cabriolet is one of their ugliest ever cars, allbeit from the Fusion! lol

If the mondeo concept (or Iosis) is anything to go by then the real thing should look very similar. As you say, not going to look quite as good in lower spec models but 'you get what you pay for'.

Oh yeah of course, but unfortunately, those are the models that tend to flood the market.

Agree with you about the fusion...it was never designed to win any beauty competitions, purely practical.

But the CC......thats a nice looking motor.

From the rear, it has the biggest ugliest flabbiest arse I've ever seen. There was one sat in Clevedon motors and it nearly made me vomit. Hateful from the rear 3/4 view, really is an ugly car. Astra CC is 10 times better looking. Wouldn't buy either though.

Shame the back end is so ugly, as the rest is quite a nice car.

those TDCI-i were dangerous when getting onto a motorway in the wet, they had real bad tendancy to spin the front wheels as traction isnt that great. TBH my 1993 Carlton feels a nicer cruiser than a mondeo, and its RWD.

I've jad 2 Carltons and a Senator. Senator was great, Carltons were ok, but not as smooth.

Never ever had a problem with the wheels uncontrollably lighting up on the Mondeo. Find the traction pretty good really for a FWD.
